oh and FWD if you are talking about the fuse in the engine bay aint good for it

That only applies for Auto's.. i'm guessing he has the dual range / pushbutton 4WD gearbox that was in the early AU/NZDM models... as it's a 5MT :)

Correct James?

Its just the pushbutton 4WD gearbox and its JDM :)

Not by a noticeable amount. I used to get 550km out of a tank in my FWD EJ18 legacy. The 1500 that the impreza gets is MUCH more advanced than the motor you have so id expect it to get better gas milage.

I think my average was 32mpg in my sedan. I get 28mpg from my 3liter but thats what 10 years of engineering gets you.

In my experiance non turbo subis are as thirsty as turbois..

my 1500cc impreza used to get around 450-500km out of a tank which is achievable in a turbo if you drive nice

Dad got about 45mpg driving from chch to dunedin and back driving his 1994 1500 Front Wheel Drive Auto Impreza

Whats that in the newfangled metric system??

I got 640km to a tank out of my manual 2.2 4WD Legacy once. 500km was pretty easy to get.

Another big factor is that it looks like youve got the SPFI model james. I cant say for sure but im thinking its fuel management isnt as good as the MPFI EJ18

Short answer, sh!t economy, and no power to boot. EJ18's are a BAD idea - Gutless and thristy.

Do an EJ22 conversion au!

Down low theres no power but tell you what once the Revs are up it really suprises me. Its like a completely different car lol.

Maybe I will sell it and pick up a EJ22 engined legacy. Cant be bothered converting it to a EJ22.

Their engine bays are generally a bit easier to fathom, and they have the red injectors too (biggest before the turbo grey injectors) I've seen 22's last past 400,000K.

The economy isn't fantastic though, i drove my old car like you should drive a subie, and it got 10L/100K. Suppose that's resonable actually.

Hey Reuben, he has the SPFI version. One dirty great injector at the throttle body and no AFM (Oh i see, your referring to the EJ22)

Pick up a EJ22 motor, stick a escort distributor on it (or a EJ18 one if you can find it) and then slam a couple Webers on it using a EJ dual carb manifold ;)

That could be a go? how would you go about fitting a distributor to a EJ22? (Remember my legacy has the distributor)

How much hassel would be involved?

Yeah i meant you could just slam the distributor into the EJ22 head. Im not 100% certain but i think it has the hole there for the dizzy just blanked off. Its been a couple years since i read about it being done on a Leone Hatch.

Yeah all those SOHC's have a cover over the dizzy hole, on the back of the RH head.

And from what I understand, if you do go EJ22, fit the EJ18 cams to it. Higher lift and longer duration so I've been told.

Yeah, the EJ18 long block will be essentially the same as the EJ22, just different displacements and internals (going off what i've seen between the DOHCs). the dizzy would go on fine, the leads are the same as your standard coil pack leads.

But i don't think the problem with the EJ18 leggy's lies with the displacement, it's the whole package. Honestly, the EJ18 will do you fine. it's gonna last forever and do the job. And it's the closest to any pre EJ an EJ can get

But if you really really really want better power and economy, go find something EJ20 or 22 powered from the gen 1's. Coil pack and multipoint injection ftw. Pro tip, the SOHC's are the simpler cheaper more reliable engines that last for 500,000K's and beyond

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
