Bc5 legacy rs check engine light

Hey guys im new here

So ive got a old legacy rs that the engine light is coming on when coming of the gas ie when coming of the motorway it comes on but when i come to stop it turns off. The code im getting is 24 idle control valve. Ive replaced it with a second hand one and still does the same thing. Vehicle idles fine ane goes well.Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Being that it's a very old car it's hard to say exactly what triggers any code haha

When you took out valve did you check it for moement and clean it up? Does the new valve move freely? Cleaned it all out with brake clean or similar and checked all the hose connections that run to that sensor, make sure they aren't split or leaking? Checked the wiring for splits or breaks and check the plug is clean and clamping nicely.

If you find it gunked up or seized with no movement that will be the problem. Otherwise potentially a wiring fault (always pays to check your grounds on engine and chassis too)

The other thing is being that's it's old it's probably time to overhaul some of the intake hoses and hose clamps. This made a huge difference to my one 250kms on her at the time.

Also have you reset the ecu after you replaced the IACV? The ecu will have compensated for it, and will take ages to relearn if just left.

Had the same problem on mine .check if its getting power if not relay is gone

Ok so ive check power 12v and the other 2 wires must have been signals. And ive reset ecu so ill see how i get on
