  1. They do actually, you just have to untangle the wires that hold it in
  2. Oh no you didn't Seriously, it's perfect for handling on open roads, which is it's designed and desired purpose.
  3. Bah, if only more Aucklanders were like you!
  4. First thing i do when looking at subies, ESPECIALLY wrx's, is check the vin. Then run the vin through a parts computer, and presto, it's exact model known, even age, original trans etc. Basically cuts through the BS of people selling GT's ad RS's, and WRX's as STi's I'm all for the restricting information on who owns the car, and where it is regestered as living, but not having the vin is going to suck. Will have to make a guess, then double check by going over and taking a look in person...
  5. Hmm, I have no idea personally. But, do you have the right service manual, that will help you out immeasurably. You can use the AUDM one, they got the clusters, and it's in english. You have a PM.
  6. I'm going to assume my original block didn't. I use a closed deck 20G block now, so, i doubt i'd have an extra hole tapped in there. Still using the factory bracket, and new tensioner mount.
  7. Get KYBs! Not the lowest in the world, but why on earth would you want to go lower... Haha, it'd be as if you didn't care about handling, and only wanted looks! That'd be stupid! Interesting to know, but that's exactly the same ride height I had on the Bilsteins. BUT.... I had swapped the springs on my Bilsteins.... The story goes; I bought the car, and figured someone had fitted LIFT springs to it, as it easily sat as high as an outback. So I bought some "GTB" springs to fit, but found that the GTB springs required a different top hat up front... In the end I used the rear springs from the "GTB" set, and the front springs off a V3 STi. It was perfectly level, and looked as pictured above.
  8. Omegah, have you actually reseted the controller and ECU yet?
  9. It should all fit, however, the tensioner is different. It doesn't matter what tensioner you use, what matters is the mounting bracket for the tensioner. If you have a new bracket lying around, you can mount that to the engine and run a new tensioner, if you don't, you gotta go swap it for the older style tensioner. Oh, and does anyone know how the extra small idler you get one Phase-II's effects the cambelt, is it needed? Cause my car, being a 98 BG, came with the new style tensioner, but not the small idler... so dunno what's going on there.
  10. Hokay, i got a PM today asking about the wiring for the coil pack mod. I've done a small write up/illustrated guide to doing it, and chucked it in the conversion how to, go to page 1 to see it.
  11. All great projects start with dreams. I'm fucking glad i singled mine! It's not THAT much work, just yank the engine, do some things, drop it back in, and buy an adaptor of me for $1000.
  12. Bugger eh? Oh well, taking a motor out isn't hard, me and drunken monkey did one in 45 mins flat (was def not a virgin though). It's a good chance to check and change any seals, do a wee clean up, work on any tricky things that are a bitch with the motor in etc.
  13. Yeah, Subaru could only get newer ones that had different part numbers when I checked. Know where I got my mountains of spares from? Pick-a-part! Easy as that. You should go when you are next in Auckland.
  14. Nice to hear. As for where the 12v comes from, Just steal one of the coil packs old 12v wires?
  15. NUH AH! [quote name='CMPLSV said: We didnt use the pointy tower 4 ours... Get abit more creative people :-s How about i]you[/i] STFU! And interesting matt, you went with the crazy blue white balance pic. I guess it's a neat effect? And yeah, Firenza's pic was actually damn hard, he was a sneaky bugger with it! Cause it wasn't the Devonport waterfront that's for sure
  16. Wheels can be swapped easy. I usually look at the bonnet-grille-light combo. Post a pic of ya BE's face Aim
  17. And the other one i took.. 340º panorama, and cropped to 180º
  18. This is why man invented turbo's! The road sucks at the moment, corrugated to all hell. It's much nicer right before ski season.
  19. The second one is beautiful, great composition too. Took this one yesterday, 25 shots again. More to come.
  20. Do you guy's have a pick-a-part in welly? Just go in there, take the plug you need, bam, $3. Don't forget, they are a standard denso plug, so you may be able to find it on a nissan/toyota/mitsi or wherever, if you can't get it off a subie. Also, the 3 wire AFM plug like on the orange sticker AFM's, is the same plug as the differential pressure sensor on a BD/BG twin turbo. Yay universal parts!
  21. Interesting. My downpipe is used rage one, and I heat wrapped it. Still all good after 3 years nearly. But the wrap is getting worse for ware, I've take the downpipe on and off so many times that the wrap has started to get torn apart near all the bolts, from being abused by my lousy spanner work
  22. the 93 GF8 will have the older style plugs, like for the old TPS etc etc, so no the 2 engine looms are not compatible. Believe me, it's far far far far far far FAR easier to just snip and solder your desired plug on. If you are too afraid to do that, there should be someone on the forum near by to help. Engine looms are a dime a dozzen, so if you fuck up, no worries, and if you were planning on sellling the 97 loom, no point really.
