  1. and move it out of the Wellington/Kapiti section:)
  2. reviving this thread....what is the best place to get a blank key with the transponder chip? If you get a key from a wrecker for the remote entry that has the same trnasponder chip, can they just reprogram that transponder and you chuck it in the blank blade you buy?
  3. You shouldn't bags it then be lazy as it puts other people off:P
  4. @THUNDA In the right light it almost looks like it is STI pink....must be fast!
  5. Nice. Definitely have different expectations when you buy from wingers and have a service plan vs buying from an importer.
  6. Agreed, I think by posting on CS we are self identifying as people who like modding cars:) I just found myself in a situation where I had spent money and was considering spending more money on my car that I was going to be replacing soon that I wouldn't get back when I sold it, so decided to put that money towards the new car. i.e. further mods on my current car would delay buying my new car and also mean I would have less $$ to spend on modding new car. Made me realise I should have just bought the car I wanted in the first place rather than a stop gap.. Everyone's situation is different, and springs are easily reversed and you will probably get most of your money back if you revert to stock and sell the springs. And as you say, it will be fun and he will learn a lot from the process.
  7. This. I think doing upgrades on a car you don't plan on keeping long term is throwing money down a hole. Mods probably won't add to the resale value of the car and might even put people off as they will assume it has been thrashed. So unless you can easily reverse the mods and make money back on selling the parts or they will be usefull to transfer to your new car, I would save my pennies for upgrades to the car you actually want... I wasted a fair amount of money/time on my BH legacy before realising it was silly...
  8. I thought you already had pink springs on the struts you got from Strong's?
  9. 17s. Impreza wheels from @scratch. Appears to have fixed wobble and now my legacy looks slightly different from every other one while still looking stock. Win-win.
  10. It was @kwi_fozze who mentioned it in the other thread.
  11. Others who have actually done it will chip in, but my memory from previous discussions is that the evidence is mixed as to whether there is any performance benefit but it does make your engine louder. I vaguely recall someone else saying in one of the 3.0 threads that there won't be any performance benefit without a tune?
  12. interesting, so that extra 1mm makes a big difference! Assuming my stock sway bar isn't hollow that is...
  13. Hmm, partsouq says my car has 20451AG031, which is 19.1, would an aftermarket 20mm or 21mm RSB really make that much difference? Or is the stock one hollow so not as stiff?
  14. Reviving an old thread....Do you know what part number is the switch for pre-facelift? I see those with facelift BP/BL's used this (https://partsouq.com/en/search/search?q=83370AA001)
  15. What is the stock RSB size on a 3.0R?
  16. One point of context is that I'm guessing most of us have jap imports rather than NZ new, guessing most people who have an import don't get their car serviced by wingers.. Subaru keep tight control on these feels sadly, hence only being able to get them through a dealer. Sounds like there was a court case in the US which means Subaru have to sell a CD with the PAK files on them to anyone who wants one, but that doesn't help us since none of us have USDM cars. And I think it was $120 including GST. Half of which was 0.5 hours labour and the other half the (marked up) fee to Subaru for the file. Definitely shifts differently/more smoothly now. My car was previously doing wierd things like holding high revs in 2nd under light throttle when it clearly should have shifted up into 3rd. Now it seems to shift more quickly/at lower revs when I'm not thrashing
  17. I didn't specifically ask, but they said they needed my rego so they could request the file from Subaru in advance of me coming in. I sent them my engine plate as well so they had any info they could possibly need. Given I wanted to come in at 8am the next day (when they opened), they said they would let me know if they had the file by 5pm (when they closed) to confirm I should come in the next morning. A+ service.
  18. Had the PAK file done this morning at Winger Henderson. Pro-tip, get in contact with them before hand so they can get the PAK file from Subaru in advance of you coming in.
  19. yeah I meant if you go outside the circumference it is calibrated for you are stuck with speedo and odomter that will read wrong. Apparently with some other makes of car it is pretty easy to re-flash the ecu to use a different circumference but with Subarus it isn't. Though I wouldn't take my word on this:)
  20. and from my very limited research it's also not very easy to reflash the stock ECU so that the speedo is calibrated for a different wheel circumference?
  21. Is a tbSTI actually any different from a GTB with all the boxes ticked then? Is the ECU different?
  22. This thread says yes, though it also lists them as being from a Forrester! https://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2239019 And another source saying 5x100 https://www.nengun.com/sti/enkei-aluminium-wheels
