Has anyone here had the pleasure getting into these puppies? Apart from the computer having a more aggressive tune in the WRX compared to Forester, maybe wiring as well ... these 2 are pretty much the same EJ20 engine are they? I recently got my hands on a Forester engine real cheap (nothing dodgey or illegal I might add!). I need to do a rebuild on it cos of some damage to it but was wondering if I need to change anything else to slot it into the rally car as a play motor while I build a stronger one. Any thoughts and ideas please throw them my way.

I had the red & blue disco lights turn on as I turned into our street one night. So I kept driving half a block to our house then pulled up. I got out of the car and the cop walked over to me then the missus got out of the car and got the kids out of the back seat and walked into the house with them. Cops first words to "Oh, I thought you were a boy racer". The only reason I got his attention, I was arguing with the missus and didn\'t notice the speedo get over 60km in 50 area. Ive been told "aren\'t you a bit old to be driving that" & "why did you buy a 17 year olds car"?

Don\'t forget WRX has 2 brake lines running down the drivers side of cabin. You will need to go down to 1 brake line to run the line into the hydraulic handy. Then run it to the back of the car and install a T junction so it goes back to both brake lines at the back... That is unless you wanna install 2 Hydraulic handys, 1 for each side of the rear wheels!

I will have to add this into the build thread! Im a helluva lot better than I was a few months ago! So now I can do stuff without screwing it up im getting into it. My mates uncle owns a brake business in town so I got him here to bend/shape the rear brake lines. Factory the GC8 has 2 brake lines running the length of the car for rear brakes. Because I\'m going to be running bias valve & hydraulic handbrake I only need one line thru car to rears, then T off to the 2 rear lines in the back. He has bent up/flared the lines and added connectors. Will be back in a cuppla days to finished off the rear T section cos he left the T at the workshop. The Co-Drivers side Grp A/WRC carbon fibre wing mirror is in a local Fibreglass business getting a mold made off it and the Drivers side will go after that one is done. I can get my hands on a genuine set of 22b/WRC bonnet vents too which I will get a mold made of the pair because as we know in Rally and motorsport its a matter of WHEN not IF I have an offroad excursion and break mirrors and bend bonnets! More to come when I have got some pics and stuff.

I only felt the one that hit at 7 in morning after it was pointed out to me THAT was an earthquake! We were racing at Reserve road Seddon on Sunday and I didnt feel 1 quake for the whole day. I guess the quakes were caused by all the anti lag that was in use in Seddon that day! Then when I was driving back to Nelson, I was on Rapara rd and all of a sudden it felt like my wheel nuts had come loose! That was over fairly quickly so after doing some S\'s to see if I could feel it again I figured it was just a large gust of wind! Then I got home and the first thing my missus says was "Did you feel that earthquake at 5"?

Heya all I have been having a read thru the Stolen tabs. This has got me thinking about vehicle tracking if mine is ever stolen. Id sooo want to turn up there with a cuppla mates and repo my car.... Well either that or show the cops the GPS position while I am in front of their house! What units are you guys using and how user friendly are they?

I know its not GPS system but ... I\'m looking at getting in a heap of stuff for my rally car from these guys when I am back to 100% & rebuilding it again. Even with the exchange rate and freight I have found I can still get stuff I want from these guys a f*ck load cheaper than buying in NZ. Im not looking at buying a timer at the mo but I saw these set ups while I was diggin thru the site. Down the bottom of the page they have a beacon and in car timer available for a decent price. I parked the Rex in the driveway at the missus old mans place a few days ago and when we left Ange pointed out there was water on driveway where I was parked. When we came back I parked in exactly the same place. The driveway has an angle on it, nothing hugely steep about it but it does have a lean to it! I came outside later and just happened to look at the rear windscreen wiper as I walked past it and noticed the water was squirting out of the wiper water squirter. It wasnt squirting out with great pressure more like just a continuous bubbling. Thats explained why my washer bottle needs a refill more often! I hav noticed it doing it when Im at speed on the open road... What is in this setup that you reckon do with replacing or setting right? Any questions, just ask! I just did ...

Just my 2 cents worth ... Tell your mate to mount a cuppla Go Pro cameras under the bonnet so he gets footage from 2 angles when it finally does go pop and throw a leg out of bed! Post links to video on Club Sub so we all can see!

Firstly I have no objection to 6 monthly WoF. Buuuut ... Dont new vehicles under 3 years run the risk of these sort of problems too? May that be faulty parts or workmanship. An improperly finished panel repair or work that rusts. It happens on the coast by the sea reeeal quick. I know that from experience being a west coast boy! Buuuut these cars still get the yearly WoF. Granted its less likely to have issues but we are talking about things made of steel and plastic that are motivated by a series of continuous little explosions.

Sorry folks my reply is a little long! Yup, getting a warrant only means your car was legally road safe at that time on that day when you presented it to the WoF agent. How it stays for the rest of that 6 month period is up to you. So look at it as if you had an accident. If your car isnt road legal and you have an accident the Insurance company will pack a sad. "If your illegal car wasnt on the road, then it wouldnt have been on that spot of road at that particular time so the accident wouldnt have happened". See if they wanna pay you out when they take that view! Just because your car has a WoF and rego doesnt make it Legal. If it has illegal mods or unwarrantable at the time of stopping you get pretty little sticker for your window to show off to all your mates thru facebook or whatever method you choose. Onto the Police stop front. Face it, whether you want to admit it or not, how you are going to be dealt with by said Police Officer will all come down to the initial first few seconds of the conversation and how you approach them. My first ticket in the WRX came when i was going over 120 in a 100km area. Along a long straight a cop car was hiding behind a van. I didnt see it initially cos i was watching the missus screwing round with my stereo and music. She pointed him out and then as I looked up on came the disco lights. After stopping he arrived at the side of the "Boy Racer Car" to find 3 kids in the back & Angela and I pissing ourselves over the fact I have had it for longer than 12 months (just) and this was my first ticket. Especially since when I first bought it she said I\'d have one in just weeks (win for me!) & lose my license in no time at all because she knows me & how I drive!. The cop started smiling and had a laugh with us when he found out why we were laughing then said " You were going faster than 118 km when I first saw you. I will give you the ticket for 113 because thats the next category down, less of a fine and demerits. Then he said my right brake light wasnt working. I checked it with him to find a blown bulb! Only got fine for speeding. 2 nd story! Yet again years ago! I was leaving Hokitika from Wild Food Fest. Just before the railway crossing to Arthurs Pass, on the straight they had a stop. Angela & I were having a huge argue and fight (over what i dont remember!) and had to stop at this check point. Because when I over shot the stopping bay which was empty the pissed off cop had to walk to catch up with us. He wasnt a happy camper! He asked me to state name and count to 10 into machine. Already pissed off over arguement, I said my name and only managed to count to 3 in a pissed off voice before the officer asked me to "step out of the car please". This pissed off Ange and had her glaring at me thru window and me getting angrier! The cop then tried to find things. He found out we both only had restricted license but couldnt ping us on that, brake lights and indicators were looked at and tires & wof and rego. Got away with no fines as we were 100% legal! But the fact is, it was the initial first moments of our meeting that decided how he was going to try and deal with me. Soooo the way I see it is, if you dont make a problem for yourself you wont get looked at.

If ya lookin for these on tm wouldnt they be cheaper just going straight to Palmside (www.palmside.co.nz) rather than on tm? I would expect them to be costlier on tm cos they have to pay sucess fees as well?

Had appointment with optomologist yesterday. He said it would be ok for me to drive now, especially since I had been going insane! Got in my first decent drive in the rex since december 5th. Had a drive yesterday but it was pissing down so i couldnt do much of a drive in that weather with just 1 eye! Look out Nelson Im mobile again!

Started it and let it run for a bit. Poor thing hasnt had a drive since 4th december and will be starting to wonder if i\'m punishin it for something!

Stoffa has a point there too. Althou a mate of mine bought a genuine 95 evo 3 rs (not a gsr rebuild!) for 26 k back round 00-01. He was at the lights in chch when a dude in a Primera didnt apply brakes to stop and ass eneded him. The car was off the road for months while the panel beater sourced a new rear end. They forked out bit more than 13 k for repairs. Funniest part of the lot (not 100% funny for him) 2 weeks after gettin it back on the road a dude run a red light and T boned him, and shoved him up onto the traffic island in middle of the road, & yup, again the driver was in a Primera! It was funny for us cos we owned a Primera at the time so I\'d send him a txt warning to hide it when we arrived after that! Insurance paid for it to be redone again ....

Thanks bud! You should have see how long it taook me to type that! I was silly enough to book 2 appointments today. Dr and hosp for apps. I had to end my hosp one cos i was almost fallin out of chair and sooo tired! Gettin thru it all thou just lots of sleepin.

Heya guys and gals. Sorry for the no showings on here and round town lately. IMPORTANT READ!! before you go further ... no pity required. Just know when Im mobile again I will get a run sorted! As some of you on here know I am a decky on a fishing boat. Well, not even 3 days into my last trip I had an accident on board so my mellon isnt exactly on to it at the mo. We use different thickness of nylon rope thru out our midwater trawls. Well during hauling last weekend one lose mesh was flicked up into a shround above our heads and held onto a thin metal vent rod. The nylon rope stretches to 46% before breakin and the 12mm stuff that got me has a breakin strain of nearly 5000kg. So I collected a 12mm rope and the afore menetioned metal rod in the side of my head around the temple. After lyin on the boat for a little while i was waitin for my my ride the Westpac chopper picked me up from the boat and I had a few hours in Welly A&E with their neuro team before heading to lower hutt hosp and their Plastic surgery team. 6 hours later I was out minus a bunch of shattered head bone and plus a new plate in the noggin amoung other bits and pieces! I havent figured out if its metal or titanium yet but as soon as I can get my hands on a magnet I will update you! Yes the 2 hospitals have some hottie nurses so if you hurt yourself thats where yo wanna go! The missus has already threatened to take my keys off me if i attempt to go anywhere near the car but with only one eye workin for a bit its probably safe i wont be drivin anywhere! So that also means there wont be any updates on rally car for a bit either. Soooo as I said, no sympathy required just know that I will be back into a run as soon as I can use 2 eyes and get my head straight!
