  1. Overtaking manouver gone wrong? Did they have pontoon boats racing in the wrc ??
  2. Took off the after market absolute poos gearstick knob. Returned to factory one. Refueled again ........ you dont buy a wrx for its ability to be fuel frugal or an eco warrior!
  3. & ... Um ... just what area do I choose? I aint gunna hop on the ferry to wellywood all the time .... or chch!
  4. Pulled apart front/rear door trims to run new rca leads for boot amp. Found 1/2 inch drive 12 mm socket that wasnt mine, is now, Score. Run leads, put all trim back together, head unit in properly and all plastic bits back on. Turned on stereo ... only to find I must have run the rca cords over or beside power wire cos now she has a whistle that goes up and down with the revs of the car.... stuff it, it can wait till i get the urge to pull it aprt again! just means I have to run it with out the back 6x9's goin.,...
  5. An Idea for you to have a looksee at is, the RA has been lightened and stuff like the head liner is liteweight and not that awesome with the sound deadning. A colleague of mine involved with Rally has a 98/99 RA & it sounds a little tinnier when you are inside it because they dont have all the sound absorbing materials like a normal road car. Have a looksee on the console in front of the gear stick for the ltd ed number plate, or ... my 97 rex is a LTD Ed, on the boot lid the number is in a rectangle badge below a round one with "World Rally Manufacturers Championship" on it. I guess you cant exactly rely on that cos anyone could pick up a boot with it on there. Obvious ones to have a looksee at are cambelt, oil leaks under the motor( when I got mine I had to replace rocker cover gaskets). Power steer pump is better to get rebuilt I found because there wasnt much difference between the wreckers & rebuild/overhaul (cost $250) atleast with a rebuild you get the guarantee & wreckers wont do that. Unless you like paying thru the butt you dont have to go genuine subie for parts. eg, BNT only had 1 cam plug left which I bought for $3.50. Repco were out. Had to goto Subie dealers, 3 more cam plugs cost 40 something buks! Its hard to find a earlier model wrx that hasnt been someones thrash mobile, an AA chek is well worth the $. So whatever you buy just keep up the maintenance & you'll have a car thats fun to drive and wont let you down.
  6. Its like ... one of those smart cars doin a rip off kit ... smamborghini, smorche, etc etc. Hey look ma its a midgets wrx!
  7. Quote from: QIK_KAS on March 29, 2010, 11:21:15 pmHey, Yeah it got returned to me. If you wanna PM me your addy again (Make sure it's correct lol) I can send it out again. PM'd Quote from: kamineko on March 29, 2010, 11:26:01 pmcorrect postcodes are essential Haven't moved outside my postcode for like 4 years or something (whenever the post office went and changed them all that time), so if that's the problem and I didn't make a typo initially then nzpost are muppets down south FYI .... NZPOST & their couriers used ARE a pack of muppets. In the last 3 months I have recieved 2 packages off trademe that were track and trace and one was left at the back door on the paver, & the other was dropped over the top of the fence onto the top of the wheelie bin. Apparently the courier is afraid of dogs and our German Sheperd barked at him! WTF happened to just leaving a calling card in the f*ck*ng letter box? Dont stress Kaz! I'm sure they'll sort their sh*t out!
  8. WOOT WOOT, bout time Subie got their ass into gear and done a sedan. Def agree with the EVO similarities but loving this new idea. It would look bloody nice in World Rally Blue and parked in my driveway! Its taken Subie a few years to get away from the ugly designs they were spitting out but i think this is a step in the right direction. I'm keen to see these puppies on the rally circuit & would love to see em get back to the good ole winning times of the 90's when they were making a 2 door. They seemed to turn into overweight fat cars after they dropped the coupe for the sedan version so I am keen to see they out there shredding the gravel!
  9. Heya all, I'm off to Rally Otago next weekend. Any members out there on the road during the weekend hit me up for a chat if you see me round. Just keep an eye out for a 97 555 blue wrx with "2010 Rally of Nelson " & website sign writing on the back! Would be great to meet up with some of the other club members!
  10. Can anyone tell me the difference between a WRX STI version III & a WRX STI version III V-Ltd? After using the model codes posted in another part of the forum. It shows :- GC8D4ED which matches up with the numbers on my VIN. But basically what difference is there between my Ltd- Ed STI and any other STI? Lighter bonnet? Lighter Body? What? Any ideas .... !
  11. Hell, I wouldnt touch AMI, i checked them out b4 I got the WRX, they wanted $1300 + for a stock standard wrx, they wouldnt touch it if it didnt have an immobilizer installed .... BUUUUT they would do me a deal if I was prepared to take out our house and blah blah blah insurance with them! I ended up with insurance thru AA for just over 500.
  12. 1 of you geniuses needs to get intouch with FHI and tell em to rename it Gravel Express! We all know that the forrester is designed for the american market. Soooo American market + vehicle = 1 fugly car, eg Chrysler Neon ... WTF were they thinking with that think, it may have been a cash cow for them but by god it was ugly ... I wonder how long the production run will be?
  13. Yup, its even worse when your beasty drops a cylinder in the middle of nowhere with no cellphone reception & its a public holiday.... now that really sucks as well!
  14. When it comes to solo gbox removals it aint that much fun! I dropped the box out by myself with the bro inlaw was inside, he came wanderin out to see if I was still alive after he hear me yell out, "C*nt of F*ck*r" and "Faaaark", things went silent so he decided to have a look. The bloody thing had slipped off the crossmember and dropped onto my chest & with the little room between me and the floor the bastard thing then started leaking the left over box oil down my shoulder and into my hair ! Soooo Funkytown, you might wanna wear your swimming hat to do it! Anyway, the rex has just been treated to new rocker cover gaskets, & rebuilt power steer pump. I learnt my lesson to NEVER go to a subie dealer for parts... BNT only had 1 cam plug left. Repco were out but offered to get em in overnite. No good for me buddy I need it now. So steeling myself for a butt raping I went to the subie dealer.... BNT sold the cam plugs for 3.50, bloody Nsn Bays Subie charged me 12 buks plus GST. So 3 cam plugs and a lighter wallet now I was off to the home garage! The only bloody difference was the dealers gave them to me in a little plastic bag with a subie emblem on it. NEVER, EVER, go to a dealer!
  15. Yuh, car porn for a subie rally fan! I was kindda hopin to find something here in nz! I didnt mean to sound picky, i dont have to go genuine wrc parts!
  16. Heh heh heh, here we are, club sub website & yakking on about Globe masters, western stars, volvo, scania! But yeh its the nite boys that are goin for it! Drove from Nelson to Hami then Roto Vegas one nite and my leggy was burbling along at 110-120 when I had this Truckie right up my ass and trying to overhaul me! Thats what happens when you get in the middle of the Turangi 500, where if you aint got atleast 500 horsies dont even bother. But some of those boys have a house on wheels. My mate was driving a Western Star that had been imported done up. It had a flat screen tv, microwave, toaster, huge bed, all in the sleeper cab!
  17. Heya all, you'll have to excuse a newby but ... Can anyone direct me to where I can pick up a front air dam and rear spoiler similar to the 97-98 WRC Subies? http://www.subaru-msm.com/global/entertain/10years/index.html I have a 97 WRX STI, one of the 555 limited editions to comemorate the 96 WRC Manufactures Championship win. Any ideas on where I could get these bits is very much appreaciated.
