  1. removed sump from a bus and found this ended up not being as bad as it looks round thing from timing cover and other bits are quick metal flakes from a failed repair. Heart sank when first seeing it though
  2. still there, as of january, if it a XT6 ? has bonnet scoop I thought it was a turbo model
  3. I have only ever seen one in NZ,was based new plymouth and it was about 15 years ago so who knows now Sent from my C6903 using Tapatalk
  4. I would love the XT6 hubs for mine, would mean I can get better rims and maybe more low but awesome build done right
  5. http://www.jeffs.co.nz/ have used them in the past they are all good
  6. any of these really http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/SearchResults.aspx?searchString=bluetooth+obd&rptpath=all&type=Search&searchType=all&generalSearch_keypresses=13&generalSearch_suggested=0
  7. Actually drove it, mother in law borrowed the ute so spent a day in the RX still makes me smile
  8. with luck, she only will have to have the heads rebuilt, as although these engines are "non interference" meaning the valves do not usually hit the pistons, the issue they do have is that the valves can clip each other. which then bends valves and shit. I had a tensioner fail causing a belt to fail in a BH legacy, it needed a full head rebuild or a second hand engine. They dont usually make any funny noises they just let go and end of story. sounds like it is the old, stick a cambelt done sticker on it, and get it out of the yard quick
  9. just as an aside, if you want to run a larger power to the rear hatch there is already one there that is powered on with the key, it is used to park the rear wiper quite large and rarely used I use them to wire a rear door lock buzzer in our minibus\'s ( COF requirement in non central locked minibus)
  10. Serviced, new rear brake shoes and new rear shocks on the Hilux
  11. getting bloody difficult to be honest has to be post 2005 i believe to pass all the emissions and frontal impact rules
  12. the problem with subaru is they run 4 types of diffs, open, vlsd, plate lsd and a torsen type they all look different the top one looks open to me but I am probably wrong
  13. put a smaller pulley on the powersteering pump, should give you less assistance,or change rack and pump for a gc8 one. just as an aside does it have the switchable steering, ie is there wires coming out of the rack, not sure when Subaru stopped adding this feature, the BC/BF has a sporty steering switch that made a difference, the later ones went to ECU controlled ( at a set speed it went to a harder rate) if it has then you may be able to switch it externally so to have the harder steering all the time
  14. was it actually switching ? as you could of utilized for something
  15. similiar issue with my one, wont connect to my \'05 hilux,05 landcruiser uses obd11 M i believe ( some toyota special ) also wont connect to the 2000 estima or 05-08 hiace, 08- is good, just because it has an obd11 connector dont mean it is obd11. I do wonder if it is just software on the phone, and the adapter gets the info but the phone cannot decipher it You could try different apps, u may find one that works ( the process I am going thru at the moment )
  16. will try today, been doing huge hours driving so have not been in workshop it is pretty easy though it is just a multi use cross bar that screws to the thread on the porta power hydraulic ram( I machined up a boss and cut a thread in it ), I then bolt it to a space saver that is bolted to the hub
  17. depends on the ECU set up some do some dont, also has very minimal draw so no great loss to a well maintained electrical system
  18. i will see if i can take screen shots or something pretty impressive piece of kit really for the price of an OBD11 bluetooth connector and a $6.50 app I really got it for OBD11 fault codes and resetting, but i use a lot more than I thought. also have used it to compare GPS km/hr to ECU km/hr to speedo km/hr
  19. remove,fit android based tablet, WIN ?
  20. I has these 2 ( I paid for torque pro ) some interesting things i picked up 1kd hiace (2013) boost pressure spikes to 20psi, fuel rail pressure gets to about 20,000 psi 313 sprinter (2012) boost pressure spikes to 30 psi, fuel rail pressure gets to about 29,000 psi I guess this is why common rail diesels can have problems with the high pressure pump
  21. this if you are not adjusting the boost, then why do you need one ? oil pressure/oil temp/rad temp are way more betterer
