  1. Yup rolling diametre, which in the scheme of things is bloody not much,
  2. 10% is what they recommend, It was on an AWD hiace that was under lease, they thought they would "help" us out by putting some new rear tires on, Guess not,The front diff still whines but the van is still going
  3. Yes it is true, you will damage your centre diff over time, I have had it happen to me, not mind you on a subaru but it was an awd vehicle that uses a centre viscous coupling, centre coupling over heated due to tires being new on the back and worn on the front, the centre coupling siezed solid which caused the front drive shaft to explode and the front diff to eat itself all in all about $5k worth of damage
  4. That wee bit sticking out is a fitting issue, I will be the guy that says fitting only 2 tires to an AWD vehicle will cause issues
  5. Will the old one last 100,000km ? if not then I wouldnt
  6. If money is not as issue why buy 2nd hand ? dont think I have ever put a second hand tire on any thing I own, unless I know exactly where it has been then I would not do it
  7. Really ? u do realise that a Truck is designed this way so there are no extra forces involved, where as the fitment shown above will cause extra force to be put onto the wheelbearing, studs and hubs
  8. I probably posted it before but MEH it is all good so you can all watch it again
  9. Every Mod I do is unusual as I own 2 pre '90 subarus, you cant just buy that sh!t of the shelf ( or even from anywhere)
  10. the size of the engine seems to matter less and less with the common rail system.(if you look at the KW ) we have a merc sprinter common rail that has a 2.2l 130 hp same as our 3l common rail toyota's both run intercoolers/variable vane turbos, the merc runs higher injection pressures.
  11. the main issue with all common rail and the hilux injector failure is one issue is that the fuel that is being put in is not of a good quality, if you use fuel from a high turn over fuel stop then all is good( my 05 hilux has done 260,000 km and still goes excellent and has only had minor issues( wheel bearings) ) If you use fuel out of your farm tank or even worse your logging tank which has suspect cleanliness then you will have issues, regardless of make of vehicle. also I rate the isuzu over the similar holden
  12. Most of the utes that you are looking at will be partime 4wd ( no AWD) so the 2wd/4wd argument is moot as you cant really tow in 4wd. saying that the 4wd chassis are usually stronger so there is that. re: the foton with the "cummins" engine these are built under licence, and my experience with "under Licence" builds are they are usually not as reliable nor easily fixed( parts can be a hassle) as the genuine gear,This is coming from the Bus side of my business, been a few bad stories about the chinese built buses running cummins and allisons having issues with back up services, the owners were told go see a cummins dealer they will sort it, no they didnt the parts were just not quiet the same as they genuine parts to make fitment a hassle. I would see if you can stretch your finances into a namebrand,(I will always push a toyota but that is what I run and so does my business)
  13. we have a Mercedes branded Van that is built by Ssangyong in korea, it has been fairly reliable ( 430,000 km on clock) they run mercedes gear ( made under licence) Only down side to them as I see it is they are all pretty farken ugly
  14. now to get one and fit it into the brumby
  15. his coupe is not an RX is it ( mainly twin carby engine)
  16. no nothing can be done, He needs to remove the dash and send it to me for my brumby as "94" said more than likely needs to be resoldered and I am not "OLD" ( well actually I prolly am )
  17. Awwww shucks I may have others but I have a box with about 1000 photo envelopes that I have to go thru and scan so it is taking me a bit of time to do
  18. Photo times ( not sure on timing but will give as much info as my old brain remembers) No nothing really ? maybe new plymouth Taupo sometime Again Taupo and taupo and taupo would of been late 90's early 20's going by my car ( ANARKY legacy version) Taupo again, all of these would of been the same time Maybe a really really early Rotorua meet Yup early rotorua meet, Black XT6 was there
  19. here is my story ( and I guess I have been a "member" for alot of those years) I joined a wellington based Subaru club way back in the mid '90's ( cant remember the name) this then combined with CLUBSUB in the late '90's and the rest they say is history
  20. You should of brought a Escort 9500 ixi, it does auto door auto lock outs based on GPS and frequency of signal, you can also lock out specific signals using the mute button, so pretty much if you have the same signal at the same spot more than 3 times the unit locks it out works pretty good, I get bugger all false readings now. Interesting thing here is the local Caltex just had new doors fitted and the auto door unit is using Ka band
  21. Won the bid on these the other day, mine was the only bid mmmmm twin carby goodness
  22. they fit containers on the trains easy enough and they are 2.5 wide, no harm in trying.
  23. See how much to freight it by train, seen one the other day full off camper vans,
