this has been my gripe for a long tome now as i ride both dirt bikes and road bikes, as well ad drive a car.
the ACC component of a road bike rego fee is massive, and the rational behind it is "because motorcyclists crash more and cost more in medical expenses"
However there is evidence to show that the overwhelming majority of motorcycle accident claims on ACC are from off road motorcycle accidents,
and by off road i mean, people riding un-registered motorcycles through the bush.
now its not a legal requirement to register an off road motorcycle. im not complaining about that at all.
but how is it fair then to say that the money to pay for these accidents (that happen in the bush, and involve motorcycles that have never been registered so dont contribute to ACC at all) should come from those who are registered? ie road bikers?
