  1. The Auto stopped working when the G4 went in. It\'s now Manual Or Nothing! But you and the Lone Ranger given me an idea - I\'ll look at recreating the Auto Function.
  2. I forget about the water sprayer 99 times out of 100. Maybe I should just connect a micro-switch to when the throttle hits the floor. ???
  3. Replaced the original 15yo Alpine headunit with a Sony usb/bluetooth/handsfree from SuperCheap that was on sale. It took more hours than I expected, but it\'s working well. The new standard din head unit has tabs protruding which stopped the console facia from snapping back into place so I done some awesome munting work with a Proxxon minisaw to remove the interferring part of the rear of the facia and it all fits. Had replaced the alpine and boston speakers with SoundStreams before Xmas, and the music has never been so good. Plus have a handsfree phone. The downside of that is that phone can ring me when I\'m racing - that is not so good ;D ;D ;D
  4. Car\'s going a bit better now - the seat-o-meter says the time is now a second quicker ;D
  5. When you unplug the flourescent trouble lamp, the 230vac capacitor is fully charged for a really long time
  6. You did a good thing! $200 is a good and reasonable price for plastic welding and repainting.
  7. Is it possible to pop bonnet from under the car thus allowing you access to flat battery so you can charge it?
  8. Anything liquid attracts and hold bits of dust and grit, or leaves a residue. This from the interweb \'Avoid using spray lubricants to fix the sticky lock. These do work, but the oils in the lubricants become hard inside the lock and you\'ll have to keep spraying the lock over and over again.\'
  9. The locks would have frozed up gradually with grit, dirt, sand, corrosion, moisture. Once you get car open again, spray some graphite power, not crc or anything else, into the lock slot and then use key to work the mechanism half a dozen times. In fact, you could try it now.
  10. Read this. It talks a little about dot 5, 5.1, and 4, and silicon etc. Start at the bottom of page 2. http://www.racebrakes.co.nz/uploads/4/2/3/6/4236658/__brake_upgrade.pdf
  11. What is the clamping pressure for the Legacy twin turbo clutch?
  12. My opinion is... ...that 98 will extend the life of the engine. Det kills many subaru engines over time. \'Some people say\' - that det is the #1 killer. But if he\'s only going to keep it for 5 years/75kms, then it\'s not going to matter..
  13. My clutch pedal got stuck on the floor when the engine and clutch fluid got hot. Wasn't sure if this was your issue after rebuild or not. Anyway, removed top mount, and bleed at bottom point. PITA, but removed really old fluid, and it's not stuck on floor since.
  14. I have 225x50x16s. They just fit on the front with normal sti rims 53mm offset. They rub at full lock on the inside but that's no issue for me. On the rear with the above sti rims they bolt up hard against the normal sti struts so I have 5mm spacers which gets them to juuuust fit prob with 2mm clearance to struts. They still rub on strut but only a bit and only under extreme conditions and is no issue. For this setup I dont think I could make 235 s fit but our cars could be a bit different or you could roll guards or have coil overs installed
  15. max 34 degrees on motorway during setup
  16. My temps went up massively from 190kw to 200kw on V4 STI top mount. (On the dyno, with the big fan, and the hood up, which is all probably not directing air efficiently at the top mount.) (And it may have been that the VF34 was exiting its efficient island :\ )
  17. I've heard that avgas is around 103 octanes. It's just a matter of straight proportion so if you add 30 litres of avgas to 30 litres of 95 then your tank will have (103-95)/2+95=99 octanes in it. If you add just a few litres ie 5 litres to a tank of 55 litres of 95 (for example) then the octane rating of your tank goes up just .67 to 95.67 octanes. So adding a few litres - not so useful.
  18. The AA have a battery replacement service and will bring a van full of batteries to your door.
  19. I've got the dual trumpet air horns on my charade and they are awesome! http://hella.co.nz/3-266-481/product/Dual-Trumpet-Air-Horn-Kit---12-Volt
  20. Yeah Dan set mine up too. It only worked on the flat road with absolutely no throttle change. Once there's a throttle change the a/f ratio dives back to normal then the closed loop brings it back up to ~14.xish. I persevered for quite a few months but don't think it improved my petrol consumption. For reference my city/highway mixed cycle is 7 km/l which always includes highway driving due to where I live and has not changed. My 'road trip' usage is still 10-11 km/l.
  21. Hmmm, not entirely sure that's possible ;D I've got a wide band and had closed loop switched on for a while and tried really really hard to keep within the closed loop lean cruise but found I couldn't hold it for long at all. I could see that the leanness had increased while cruising but that for me didn't translate to better mpg. Hopefully ymmv ;D I suspect that the car just likes petrol
  22. Jase, I still have some beer here in my garage with your name on it. Missed you at the last meet I wasn't there, and the previous one you weren't there
