  1. 4500 for this is a pretty reasonable price imo, some people ask for twice this for no reason other than "they are getting hard to come by" which is true if you compare it to a corolla. I'd budget for atleast 1000 for cambelt / waterpump etc Flights be about 100-200 if you want to go within a few weeks from now. If the guy is on clubsub and 20+ years of subaru mechanic he should be pretty helpful on the condition of the car. everyone ive dealt with on clubsub has been helpful and honest so far, and he looks like he's looked after it tbh man its probably the best nick ive seen in awhile, mine stunk like dogs when i got it and everything rattled - i paid 3500 for me and it cost me 1000s just to get it into wofable/running properly condition. look out for oil leaks etc, rocker cover gaskets are expected on an oldie, but if there are more leaks than the rocker cover gaskets it wont be fun when it comes time to have them repaired, give it a good drive to make sure it doesnt overheat / leak around the header tanks. its got the intake manifold cover on it which can be a good sign - they are very hard to find so theres a chance its the original. check out around the factory boost solenoid to see if the vacuum lines are factory, if they are, super good sign, the boost may not have been wound up which means the engine has had a pretty easy life
  2. Recommendations for good cambelt mechs in auckland Definitely Subirex Automotive mate! If your worried about it snapping while you drive it to auckland i wouldnt be - ive had a BC5 that had the same cambelt it had from new reach 130,000kms That RS has done 190,000kms so would have at least been done once.
  3. not sure what brand got them 2nd hand off clubsub, was gonna use them but thinking of not going custom/twisted turbo to save $$ and put it towards more important supporting mods or some handling mods, tryna keep this lot of mods under 10k
  4. I dont have any insurance on the RS, but after my next lot of mods I definately will be getting it, already got a hefty insurance bill for ute/mrs car/house/serperate insurance for individual expensive building equipment. The RS is now equip with multiple GPS. tracks perferctly even when deep underground - speed/ign on off/exactl locating down to a few meters/constantly logging great investment
  5. Sorry to be the dumb dumb but what are SSI headers, and is UEL un equal length headers? So stock is Un equal length and SSI is equal length yeah? I just got a set of equal length headers to run with the TD05 20g, but after hearing there is little to gain and ill loose some of the original subbie bop bop noise, im tleaning towards staying with UEL - that way i can keep my current EWG setup, if my stock UEL headers bolt up to the v4 heads im looking for
  6. It almost says dodgey backwards lol well its DOGJE backwards but meh close enough
  7. The SVX comes equip with the diverse; Luxury Sports mode, Featuring Sports Cruise! Laugh as you Cruise past less Sporty cars that only feature the classic "Cruise" feature - which studies show is 100% less Sporty Lesser vehicle owners will cry as their sports mode button doesn't activate ANY form of Luxury, let alone Luxury, at the exact same time as Sports! Straight out of the imaginary SVX Catalogge
  8. have you got the digital gauges running on yours yet? i hooked my link up to my mates tablet (which runs windows software) and he managed to pull up digital gauges made me want to get a tablet of my own and mount it in the glovebox or something - then i remembered how much my car has cost me and will cost me while im away, then i just didnt do it. but still looks pretty high tech abit like this but not quite, couldnt figure out how to get it like this pic
  9. im the same, i always go for the diamond in the rough, then spend way too much on it - inevitably making a huge loss LOL, hobbies ¬
  10. i was waiting for that Thats a BEAST of a TD05 mate, hope my kinugawa looks abit like this :B
  11. I'm sure there a situations where high km cars are in good nick, however lower kms means the car has traveled less, less travel means less wear and tear all around the car, not just the engine, everything has had less wear and tear, right down to the smallest rubber bush, but your right! in some cases a low km car could be F***ed! which is why you should always get an AA check when parting with your hard earn money, iirc Subru is a young guy, and hes about to part way with some serious $$, assuming he wants to buy a car that he doesnt need to do maintenance on right away / repairs for while, if it was me in the same situation; id go for least wear and tear with good record of work over anything modified for a first turbo car
  12. Lower the kms the better, that v4 is mint! You get what you pay for though, but it all comes down to the aa check, my Rs was 3500 , it was a piece of S***, and it's still a piece of S***, it's just a lot faster now
  13. They are great I reckon, will have all the improvements the v1/v2 lacked, single scroll (iirc) so nice suby rumble. Heads are good - I'm trying to source a set myself
  14. Yea but what I'm saying is if you get a car tuned you'd mention it, pretty important
  15. This looks pretty tight. https://www.trademe.co.nz/1308076768
  16. Trust me when you get a proper ecu and professional tune - that's the first thing you'd put on the "modz" list . So if it isn't there it's probably running factory ecu boost taps are a bad bet imo, everyone with a boost tap who likes broom broom is turning the boost up to the max at least once
  17. Quite a few well priced STIs on trademe at the mo, I was looking at getting one around the 10k mark to use as a parts car for the Rs muahahaha
  18. Seen a few options, a lot of people who plumb back EWG weld a flange to the up pipe just below the turbo - then a flange on the downpipe to connect it, that way it stays above the crossmember best to take some measurements for clearance then take it all out and put it back together on a bench (up pipe/turbo/down pipe) then fab from there im looking at doing something similar - getting abit sick of venting externally - draws too much attention
  19. Brakes were the only thing that I wasn't worried about, what brakes in your sti man? Assumed they would be brembeezys
  20. Hey all, so went through quite a few threads an ended up with this info Do the v7 seats fit into a BC5 The answer: Yes, However you sit a good 50mm higher up in the v7 seats My helmet almost touched the ceiling of my RS on the track day, thats with the low sitting v3 seats. Found a few threads where people have done really shitty/unsafe jobs of making the v7 seats fit at the same height (not on this forum) Has anyone got any info on how to get the job done - obviously want to stay away from getting custom brackets made up, modifying existing rails doesnt really work because they are already low, its the seat bottoms that are high If not all good - just keen to close the book of a few things i have so many spare f'ing car parts at my house Cheers
  21. Managed to find a few off flat nats + playdays facebook groups, playday has like 150 photos of today. Fully didn't realise that once you picked a group that you didnt have to continue racing in that group, i chose the slow group then assumed i had to stay in that group Oh well, good practice, had a blast - especially the 2nd time out, new mustang and evo 5 show down! my blood was pumpin! private image share
  22. Just got home and all ready checking when/where the next track day is lolol my tyres were terrible, I didn't even think to get good ones - I was under the impression new tyres were good (lots of tread blah blah) was boaty as around corners lost my ps fluid cap on first session in the slow category on Lo boost - got over taken by an rx8 second session also in slow category was loads more fun - hi boost, a lot of screeching tyres and understeer, only managed to pass one car, and to my delight it was an evo 5 had some bad sounding backfires with blue smoke cloud , tyres sucked big time , ps fluid made a smokey mess and the turbo was cooking so decided to end the day there, didn't want to keep pushing it and it going bang Great day all round , was good to meet a few of you guys!, my gps clocked me at 204km/h on the straight! ^_ ^
  23. Bad ground - check your battery voltage - alternator output voltage - had similar fault with dieing alternator - seemed fine but lights would come on dash and gauges going on/off
  24. Difinately agree lol, dunno what I was thinking!
  25. Took the RS for a boost today, first time in awhile, shes goin real good ^_ ^ brakes are 10x better than factory, havnt had to slam them on yet but am confident that will do their part on the track this weekend woop :P:P
