  1. UPDATE Aswell as my car cutting out @ 9psi it is now misfiring, feels like its running on 3 cylidners, sometimes backfireing i changed the sparkplugs today at work didn't make a difference, car is very sluggish im thinking - coil packs? air flow meter? fuel pump? any help would be very appreciated! as i have to fix the car tonight to drive it to work i nthe morning (and i also have the flu lolol)
  2. now its missing a bit on cold starts im just going to goto izusu & subaru bits today and grab new bits, it just had a service but im sure they didnt change the plugs so ill do that today also
  3. my pod filter has no oil at all... should i just tip some oil on it? lol i just thought it was a bit strange how the car was running fine then all of a sudden it stopped boosting above 9psi it has been using alot of gas recently though, maybe it really does need and afm change bit annoying really as my mate had 2 legacy wrecks in his back yard sitting for years and he just got them removed about a week ago lol, i knew i shoulda got some parts
  4. Believe me, I am a big supporter of the standard CAI But got given a pod filter and adaptor plate as a gift so thought might as well put it on. AFM Cleaner, will Carb cleaner work? or electrical cleaner? cheers
  5. Hey guys UPDATE Aswell as my car cutting out @ 9psi it is now misfiring, feels like its running on 3 cylidners, sometimes backfireing i changed the sparkplugs today at work didn't make a difference, car is very sluggish im thinking - coil packs? air flow meter? fuel pump? any help would be very appreciated! as i have to fix the car tonight to drive it to work i nthe morning (and i also have the flu lolol) I recently put a pod filter onto my ej20 1989 legacy GT yesturday it was going great, running fine, didn't miss a beat now today i took it for a drive and its fuel cutting @ 9psi, as soon as the boost gets to 9psi it cuts, however car runs fine @ no boost and boost under 9psi, its similar to the cut you get when the car overboosts and the computer cuts the fuel I was thinking my afm has probably crapped out because of the pod filter? What do you guys think? I'm selling my car at the moment so really wanna fix this asap If anyone has a spare ej20 legacy airflow meter they have laying around could i borrow it to check if thats the problem?
  6. always liked the rx7 series 2 ?? Savana? i.e; convic if anyone has seen it (black savana rx7) also battys fuckin rule and look sexy as when you take the spoilers off but all those rx3s and shitty rota wagons are ghey tbh
  7. fuck wtf, who the fuck is incharge of this design error, its a piece of shit tbh
  8. Yup, its not easy, and very time consuming to do it right you only get one chance to do it right, if your timing is out by too much, you'll fuck your engine, if your timing is slightly out, your engine will run like an old dog, because ej20s have 2banks the belt has to go around twice as many cam gears than a normal cambelt im replacing mine next weekend, the belt itself is $160, will be doing waterpump and tensioners and all p/s / alternator / aircon belts too, i dont mind doing a write up with pics once ive done it, but its seriously not for the un-experienced mechanic
  9. sounds like a mint idea but it probably wont detur theives most insurance assessments i do on stolen and recovered subarus the key locks are fine, they simply pry the window open at the top, reach in and unlock the door from the inside. darn pillarless windows
  10. meh, i do prefer facelift tailights over pre-facelift but the fronts of pre-facelift definately look more agressive than facelift bigger spotlights, headlights look more evil, like they are on more of an angle inwards rather than just being straight but hey ive owned both and yeah they are both sweet :-*
  11. i got 330ish kms out of a tank of 98, it cost about $90ish to fill, pretty shocking imo
  12. bc5 pre-facelift but looks better than facelift and should be facelift cos facelifts look nana :-*
  13. as far as i know there are no rs legacy wagons, they are all gt's even manual ones
  14. piston rings worn, oil leaks past the pison rings and acumulates while your car is off and stationary, then when you turn it on it burns that oil and the heat produced by youre engine expands the rings enough to make a good seal
  15. thats mean! imagine what sorta power it could make with a nice turbo setup, i.e one fucken huge turbo (plus supporting mods)
  16. dont think it would be a vacuum leak, vacuum leak usually makes the engine hesitate BEFORE you get spool, rather than during full boost (a vacuum leak acts pretty much like a bleed type boost controller) try fuel filter, but yeah afm prob your best bet and they dont cost much 2nd hand for a replacement, pikapart is your friend
  17. Hey all just wondering if there is a chat area on this forum? on other sites there is sometimes a button like near the home/help/search/profile etc buttons.. that says chat if we dont have one, do we need one? i see quite a few people online all the time here on clubsub and it woud be sweet to just bump into the chat room from time to time (if we had one) what do you guys rekon? yay or nay?
  18. when you get over here goto one of the police auctions, pretty much cars that have been stolen and recovered but insurance has already replaced the original owner with a new car, thats where i got my first GT Wagon Legacy, was only $360 LOL had low kms and ran like an old dog, had a wof n reg, was brown when i got it and had sand everywhere inside, no ignition. gave it a wash n vacuum = car turned out to be black lol, gave it a service, new battery, plugs air filter etc, cost me about $200 all up and $50 for a new ignition with seperate key, and it ran perfectly, that car was probably one of the most reliable cars ive ever owned and i thrashed the living daylights out of it, sold it 1year later for $1800 to some indian kid lol
  19. yeah me and my boss were going to do that a little while ago only problem is, making it legal would be a bitch, getting consent for all the noise and so called "air-pollution" etc people would complain just for the sake of complaining it would need to be in or near auckland, to get a high amount of customers that would in turn tell their friends to make more customers etc, no advertising would be required, or even just throw some posters up on your daily driver having a concrete slab and maybe a concrete 8 track would be mint, and if you really wanna make some cash invest in a tyre machine so when they finish popping their tyres you can offer to chuck new tyres on, and have a little garage so if they blow something up while raping their car you can atleast sus their ride to get them home or fix it and charge them full price
  20. It would cost more than my car is worth to put it on a dyno but it will still strip SILNCR thts for sure HA
  21. 330ish kms per tank if im lucky think it cost $80 last time i filled up
  22. my car is tuned for 95 and i only use 95, never had problems with detonating at all (well not that i know of) and my car runs perfectly, regular services and good warmups on cold mornings, treat her well and she'll do the same
  23. is that a 6cylinder? fk tht will be a mint conversion@! will ej20 box bolt upto ej33 algd:?
  24. are you using worm hose clamps? try upgrading to the bolt hose clamps, they cost a bit but they fkin rule, you wont pop icooler hoses off with the bolt clamps. i had a front mount on my old rs, they owner before me put the fronty on and he used bolt hose clamps (forgot the actual name) i ran 20psi strong whenever i felt a bit boost hungry and never popped a pipe, i did however run a bottem end :-*
