  1. I paid around $20 for a pack of four bushes for mine, took a fair bit of effort as the ones that had gone, were the ones that were welded in... it does no damage to your gearbox at all as the problem is completely unrelated to the gearbox itself (the shifter lever slops around, but nothing in the gearbox even moves)
  2. BC5 and GC/GF exhausts are interchangable generally, both my BC5s have exhausts that came off WRXs on them, one off a GC, one off a GF, both fit perfectly, you do need to extend the tip if putting them on a BF though. BG/BD legacies are VERY different, you need to add 10cm to the mid-pipe on a BG, but a BD shoudl be fine (this is assuming single-turbo)
  3. looks like our mate corrie may have just come back to stick up for himself eh...
  4. oh just ban the n00b already PLEAAAAAAAAAAAAAASE....... people like him are the reason most of the old regulars are gone now...
  5. I think they are limited to the Factory injectors. This is a possibility, but would most likely, with the amount of rewiring you'd have to do, come up more expensive than an aftermarket anyway...

    cams install

This is absolutely correct, likely the valves will have to be lapped back slightly, and the valve shims will DEFINITELY need machining if you have solid lifters.
  7. did you just install a new headunit? I'm putting money on the fact that headunit is grounded through the illumination wire instead of true ground, this will result in fuses blowing every time you turn your lights on.
  8. not all of us can quite afford that, pappu
  9. Someone pulled the gearbox code tag off, so I'll never know that, but best bet is 4.44, which I can easily get hold of (BC5RA: the GT uses 4.444, so not 'no go')
  10. Hey guys, Question has probably been asked a million times before, but what is the usual diff ratio for a V7 WRX? my BC5's gearbox is now making some quite intriguing noises and i've been offered a v7 WRX 5speed as a replacement.
  11. that first pic is compatible with the Gen1 legacy and V1-V3 imprezas. original pic came from my impreza
  12. I'll supply some pics later tonight of exactly what is what as I have done a few of these. You may want to hold off if you're converting from a 76mm MAF to a 90mm MAF, I've just done the full swap and am having some issues with AFRs. Could be the MAF or it could be a flow related problem.

    7S ECU

I have made a couple of 4-plug to 3-plug conversions, they have a few quirks but generally run well... main problem is related to lean running which I am still trying to track the cause of.
  14. its the AC Cut relay, correct, contrary to popular beleif, the ECU is actually directly responsible for controlling the AC clutch and fans, the ACU just sends it an 'AirCon Request' signal to ask it nicely to turn on. Removing this relay will result in disabled AC.
  15. I have had this problem on two Gen1s so far, both times it was the main relay. one of the contact sets on the relay had become corroded and werent making a good connection.
  16. sounds like we have a case of doing everything the hard way...
  17. something we've seen a lot of here is post '90 radiators (manual ones particularly) going pop on the driver's side end tank, about 2" down from the top they develop a crack where there is a join in the tank material. this crack only opens under high pressure, so you probably wont notice it unless, like mine, it sprays the water out the gap between headlight and grille and all over the windscreen.
  18. the steel gaskets purchased from winger are 1.3mm thick according to tech docs.
  19. rust under the garnish along the front (and rear on BCs) windscreens. neglected cars may also have rust in strange places. Be very sure to check the chassis has not been damaged anywhere from frontal impacts.
  20. this doesnt surprise me at all...
  21. Hey bud, your latest disguise is a bit thin... Fuel matters no matter what you drive
