  1. reflash will only woork if it's a V7 or newer. STM work is quite expensive, but very reliable I'm sure. Their re-flash rates are $1250ish (as advertised in their thread here), as opposed to Speed Source up north who will do the same for about $800ish, but they are opposite sides of country, so it really depends on what area you live in. If you wanted to check out other places, I'd send Speed Source an email, a figure of what you are wanting, and see what they can offer. But only if you can afford to take a week or two off work and stay in Whangarei while they work on your car.
  2. Yeah I had the bushes replaced in the Legacy when the clutch got done, maclennans did them as they noticed they were worn. It tightened up the gearstick no end!
  3. Run? Probably. Run well? probably not.

    ONROAD (BIG) FAIL

Yeah I'm gonna look into this... it's probably the only thing I want to change about the car...
  5. Temporary Fix. And get good front speakers so you don't need rear ones
  6. Haha nice. I have a model of my old gtb wagon, and now I'm gonna have to find a v7 spec c model!
  7. Add a link to this thread in the Legacy Technical section
  8. The Legacy was most definitely about the looks, the sounds, and the performance came when it was necessary. Now with a new car, the focus will be on some looks, but more performance and handling mods. Spec C's don't need much mods really.
  9. In my Twin Turbo I used the vacumm line coming off the Fuel Pressure Regulator to the manifold. Worked well and read pretty accurately.
  10. Yeah that's not crazy at all... that makes perfect sense!
  11. I've only ever used Oil sensors in a sandwich plate, and never had a problem
  12. Remember it won't read a reading right away, it can take 10 mins or more for the oil to heat up to such a temperature that it registers on a gauge.
  13. Probably about $200 - $250 for a single panel.
  14. The new Digital speed cameras use K, not KA, and there isn't much of a warning on them either. I have a Bel STi and it only picks them up basically when it's too late and you're flashed. If you do a search, there was a long discussion about this not long ago.
  15. Ahh the good ol Green Man... everyone's local haha 'Tis a good bar, with good looking bar wenches!
  16. The bottom pic has got a big kink in the brake line... that can't be good for it?
  17. Speakers are as good as what you pay for them. For the sub $200 price bracket, I'd look at Kicker first, then Pioneer. Check your nearest Repco and see what you can get.
  18. I wont be doing anything for the next week and a half... but I'll be there once I get new wheels :-)
  19. I hope he means the calipers and not the rotors
  20. If you're in Auckland i can give you a number of someone who works for himself these days, has built a number of top NZ show cars and I'm sure he can do a custom system for you for that figure. He even owns a Subaru too so he isn't that bad a guy haha!
  21. Basic mods should be as you have already described, exhaust, cold air intake or high flow air filter, and an ECU reflash. Speed Source up north has had good results recently and has published some of their prices recently in Performance Car Magazine for examples of power output vs $ figures. I can dig out a recent example if you need to, and if no one else does it first.
  22. My flatmate has one. Don't know if it's one of those ones, but it's a Trademe special anyway. If it was me I'd get a name brand one like Pioneer, but you're paying more for it. I went into Streetsoundz couple of weekends ago looking at DVD units and got told they could do a single DIN Pioneer 5050DVD for 1000, also got offered a Double DIN unit but declined it so didn't get a price. I don't know much about my flatmates one, but one thing I do know about it that he said he doesn't like about it, is when you are listening to a song and you turn the car / unit off, it starts from the beginning of that song again. I can ask him for more things he likes / doesn't like about it if you want, and also find out what exact type it is.
  23. Yeah exhaust, cold air intake and ECU reflash would be first on my list. That will probably take care of your 2gs quite easily. Speed Source up north do upgrade options, if you're anywhere near north then I'd talk to Kent there about your spending limit and what they can do. Otherwise further south is WRC Developments as BT says, or in Wellington we have Speedtech. Don't know what tuning options there are in South Island.
