1999 Legacy Keyless Entry..how to turn it on??

I think the keyless entry mechanism in my legacy has been deactivated as it does not beep when u lift the drivers door handle.

I have had a look at old posts regarding reseting ur code like:

But it doesnt say anything about turning keyless entry on.

Does anyone know how I can turn it on?

Am I right in saying all BH5's should have this on them?

Any help would b appreciated...really frustrating

His car also doesnt beep when you unlock it with the factory remote in the key...which is odd.

Have you had a look to see if the little speaker is plugged in (Behind drivers door card, about halfway up the door).

When I was fitting speakers in my BG5 it was knocking around so I just unplugged it and left it off, maybe someone has done this to your car previously?

You can't turn it off and on, so if it doesn't beep, it's either not there, or has been disconnected/disabled.

Do you have the infrared thing by the map reading lights?

Scratch that, i think that's a BG and older thing, my dads doesn't have it and he has keyless entry.

GT only thing? cos I think RS's didnt get it (gen I and II)

Hmm you could be right actually. I know it was GT only in the 1st gen.

will have a look tomorrow, is it hard to get behind the drivers door?

yep, undo screws on outer side of door card, one in centre of door release, remove oter edge of door release, and one in the arm rest kinda thing.

yeah piece of piss, there are about 3 screws to remove then the door card just pops off.

This link has some pics of where some of the screws are, but it might be a bit different between models.

The little keyless entry speaker was about 30cm above the speaker on my drivers door.
