Manual It (Question)

I searched, couldn't find anything to answer my question.

Here is my story so far....

I currently have a non turbo VZ type R 1991 Legacy. This is FWD Manual.

I found a AUTO GT Legacy (4WD).

How hard would it be to either:

A: Move my manual gearbox + other shizz to the GT Legacy

B: Transplant the engine to the FWD Manual?

I know nothing about moving a Manual FWD Gearbox to a 4WD car, is it even possible?

I would prefer option A. VZ Type R is Facelift, GT Isn't

and facelift doesnt matter much, the running gear is all the same however since yours is fwd you be better off finding a 4wd box and fixing the turbo car

I see, cheers. Fountain of knowledge you guys are :)

I assumed my gbox would handle it because I was told the VZ Type R had all the turbo parts minus the turbo. (The turbo body kit, brakes, block ect)

vz-r engine is ej20d.. 2.0 non turbo

u could swap engine but u need engine, turbo, gearbox, loom, afm,ecu, fuel pump, rear diff, etc etc etc

I know a GT DOBC that's quite happily ASSPLODED a non-turbo gearbox from a newer Impreza. It weren't pretty! :o

Best option would be to put an STi or GTB gearbox (and matching diff) into a GT Legacy...this combo is brilliant. Drunkenmonkey and CodeMatt here on the forums have both done it to their GT Legacy wagons to great effect :) I will be doing exactly this too.

The VZ-R is a nifty little car but the motor and gearbox belong in it, not a turbo car. It's a bit of a nightmare switching between the two as there's a few differences between turbo and non-turbo. The 'GT without the turbo', 'WRX without a turbo' N/A thing is sadly not literal. There are wiring, trim, and major drivetrain differences that work to make your head explode. Had a bit of experience with this too... my second GT wagon came with a VZ engine in it!! :o Bought the shell without, as an N/A motor in that heavy ol thing is just....wtf. They had swapped out A LOT.

This is precisely why I am keeping 'the Mighty N/A' specifically that, and not turning it into a wannabe STi. :)

Yep, 1st gen boxes in short are just waiting to be exploded. Autos are just as bad with power...S2 exploded a nice one, Frankie decided to grenade one, Leonidas was obviously bought with a grenaded box... CodeMatt's box was blown too AFAIK.

Moral of the story: put a more modern box into your 1st gen :) It is worth the effort!

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
