While I'm getting my brakes done, DBA reckons i should get my wheel bearing checked too.

Not really. Just replace them when they get noisy/rough/play etc. GD/GG's seem to be hard on bearings though. Usually rears.

I would estimate 100,000km's to be safe. A mates forester has just had a rear one go at 113k, and I've had a front one go at 130k

But both also had the drive flange go, so either replace that as well, or replave the whole hub. BUT replacing the bearing before it gets too bad, would stop the drive flange from wearing out as well.

my bros GTB rear went at 150k, but this is the bigger bolt in bearing. you basicly have asked a how long is a piece of string question........ if theres no play, roughness or noise dont worry

They are notorious for having not-quite-tight-enough rear hub nuts that give a good click noise every so often.

Na this is a solid knock from the front. Happens when they are cold on first start up, turn the wheel when not moving (to get out of a park or the like) and they clonk.

Its not the brake pads stuck to the discs is it?

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Does that happen very often?

I agree, this is one thing i wouldnt replace unless you notice they are physically poked and have signifigant play in them.

Wheel bearings and subarus are not a happy couple. Most of the time, if you decided to check what condition they are in, you will find they need replacing very frequently, even though they weren't hindering the car.

My advice would be leave them until they need replacing, otherwise its going to turn into a saga like trying to shut down Mc D's to stop people getting fat, its going to involve a lot effort and you wont achieve f*ck all in the grand scheme of things.

I only thought of it as my rears were stuck to the discs the other day. I hadn't driven the car for over a week, and with all the rain they had rusted to the discs. It made a clunk as the car first moved off.

are u sure the clunk isnt from the pads moving in the calipers? very normal nosie in the brembo cars

Yeah its very likely its either the pads sticking to the rotor or the pads are moving.

Is this a Subaru Tech only job - to replace I mean? Same car V7 STI?

No. Why would it be?? Any competent mechanic should be able to do it with no problems.

Just thort I saw a peice of info that sugested that you needed special tools - Subaru specific I mean. But hey all good if you dont need them!

What does it cost - roughly by the way - Parts and tech fee?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
