subaru rear diffs

hi can anyone tell me if a subaru rear diff code (i think) 85 jf1 3.9 ratio will fit my 98 legacy sedan? im working on a rwd project and need a higher ratio than the 4.4 currently fitted. Alternatively can anyone suggest an alternative? cheers in advance

thanks guys ah i got a legacy with a ford v8 in it for something different mostly burnouts (i bought it converted for not a lot of money) but it needs longer legs. pretty sure it wouldnt have fitted the subby box hence rwd only! please dont hate me.......

My legacy is rwd but Im not too sure about the ratio, it seems a lot taller than the 4.4 that was in there
