knocking engine

hey ppl. my engine constantly has a knocking noise and was wondering if it means the end of the engine is nere or is there sumthing i can do to stop it. thanks

Do you know what noisy lifters sound like in a Gen 1 Legacy Turbo?

If the knocking is coming from the centre of the engine, then its already at the end.

It could be a bung hydraulic lifter in the heads (which is easily fixable) or a rattly piston though.

Does it run and have any oil pressure?

Diagnosing noises over the internet is difficult at times.

it starts fine and goes but sometime shutters on boost.

its an oil additive. pro-ma mbl8

its particularly good at quietening mitsi lifters, so should have no trouble sorting your suby out.

i dont know where you are, so cant give you a place to buy it.

Most Mitsi dealerships sell it over the counter funnily enough. Or google it and buy it over the net.

Once you clean the motor with mbl8 be sure to service it regularly with good quality oil to stop them gumming up again.

no, you do an oil change, then pour a certain amount into the last remaining litre of new oil, mix it in well then pour it into the engine, and then run it for about 15 mins

I was meaning more like every 5000k's rather than the lack of servicing that leads to this problem.

oh yeah, its not a cleaner, so you basically have to use it every oil change.. its good for your lifters.

nothing ever really cleans them short of pulling them apart and cleaning them
