fix it. the cost of repair is less than the cost of a decent replacement... and selling it with a blow motor?

you won't get much at all. a grand at the most???

EJ20R = Worth saving. Simply put.

And lorens right, 4K is too steep for a head gasket job, you're getting taken for a ride. You can rebuild an engine from the ground up for that much. Ask around, where abouts are yah?

If you don't want to, i'll take the car for $500 ;)

As for the resale of the car, i'd say $1000 broken, $4000 fixed. So if you can get it done for 2K, you'll def be better off getting it fixed. If you can't beat your 4K quote, flick it.

Depreciations a prick, 5 years ago these cars were worth 15K.

Holy - 5 years ago I bought a 99 B4 off a dealer for 16k - who was paying 15k for these?

just make sure it is a blown head gasket first... too many dodgy mechanics out there... Mann Autos at the airport and Quantum European just to name two... both diagnosed freinds cars with blown head gaskets... the Audi turbo at Quantum had a buggered thermostat... The Holden Vectra is still at Mann Auto's... have told my freind to get it out of there... she's paid $3000 for new head gasket, drove it out and it over heated to be tole the radiator and fan were buggered... another $1500... same symptoms as the Audi!!!

The Audi ended up costing NZ180.00... Quantum quoted $4000 to fix... and even tried to stop her from driving it from their yard - bloody thing ran cool as with the heater on!

if you can be bothered i wud fix it, the savings really come in to it when you do most the work yourself. But if you just want it gone and/or cant be bothered sell it as is, around the 1K mark as it is.

if you do get it fixed at least you know what you have, rather than buying some one elses problem.

It is a big PITA to get it all fixed then have to sell it.

You could single turbo it while the engine is out, which is a motivating factor to do get the work done and would make you want to keep it, just a thought.

Doesent matter what the cars are... if mechanics are ripping people off, then people need to know. And for the record i do know what i'm talking about..

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
