5w30 oil

cuurently running it in my subaru atm.just fresh after being run in.

a ew people have commentd me that the oil is way to thin for subaru engines?

the oil and genuine filter was servied by possum bourne mtrsprts so surely its the right oil.but i just wana check with every one onhere,?

i think the thickness of the oil depending on how many k's u have done on ur car? i could be wrong.

I belive valvoline do a mono grade oil that can be used for run in

Mattapo got me on to it, its about $57 from repco for 5 litres

ahhh liquid, he has just run it in, dont need to run it in.

if the motor is fresh, new oil pump etc, then 5.30 will be fine if its their clearances.

Using Castrol Edge 5w30 on a 120,000km GDB, no issues here.

If thats what the engine builder says to use then use it.

mm i always thought 5w30 was for high compression engines eg Honda might try it for my next oil change. got a brand new 5L sitting in the garage.

yeh man.gave them a call yesterday just too make sure tht its allgood.and they told me that itl be fine for most subaru engine.its the oil they use fresh after a rebuilt engine

I also use castrol edge 5w30, have used it since I got the car at 70,000km to 100,000, no problems. I think the older generation subaru motors are recommended for 10w40 but the newer gen motors are best with a thinner oil

Yep thats right.

I'm using valvoline 5w40 in the (02) GTB, I found Edge 5w30 gave noticeably more turbo noise.

ive got 10w30 on mine. put in by alex at highbrook automotive. not really sure if it makes any different really. have to try around i thnk

yeah always ran magnatec in mine...but a mate recommended to use castrol edge 15w50? or something 50. still yet to try it next week before or after night wars ;D

Castrol recommend 5w30 for high po Subby engines mate. I run it in mine for ages with no problems. As long as you got oil in it, it dont really matter TOO much what it is. I also run 15w40 modern engine for quite a few years.

Wouldn't take any notice of what an oil company recommends, better to speak with the bloke who built the engine.

I've been to told to use Mobil Delvac MX15W40 mineral oil in mine.It's a diesal oil that is also for use in petrol engines. Doesn't break down and has great HTHS properties very clean oil also will keep your engine internals spotless.

I run 5w30 castrol edge sport in mine also,(wouldn't put anything else in it), running old g1 ej20t with over 200,000 km..no lifter tick running 5w30 but it did when a bought it, mods are vf22 ,link ecu tuned to 19psi,fmic,yellows etc etc, no evident lifter noise running that grade of old..would never put magnatec in a turbo car as it will flash off and degrade as it can't handle turbo temperature..might be fine for the first week then tick tick taptap..oils fcuked.

Repco sell it for about 70slides from memory and supercheap have it for 60 slides.but if you can find it for cheaper than 60slides anywhere supercheap auto will beat there price by 5%..
