got my WRX back today a few quick questions.

Hi .

so i got my beloved WRX (1996) back today from an brake upgrade (for trackdays) and also fixed the one boost pipe . (it was too close to the fan cowling and managed to rub against it finally chafing thru)

now my question is this ... since i got it back my rexie sounds different ,it seems to not dump as loudly as before and also the turbo "whoose/whine" seems more pronounced .. now nothing was changed or modified , can the repair of the pipe make a difference to the sound of the motor ? it does seem to run a fair bit better than before thou .

also , the check engine light comes on and goes off randomly , i had the mechanic pull the codes and there is NO error code . also when getting it from the selfdiag there is nothing . Is this something i should be concerned about ?

no it is running the stock ECU ,has a gizzmodo boost controller but only running standard boost .

the engine light comes on even when pulling away in town at low rpm (randomly) and sometimes under mild acceleration ...just took it for a drive again and it did not come on at all ...weird .

hi .

ok did a bit of fiddling under the bonnet .. (never a good thing when IT people touch mechanical stuff :-P ) but i found that the rubber pipe from the BOV was slightly bent so i straightened it and it seems to be a happy dumper again !

Also the motor was rebuilt about 7K ago by the previous owner and i had a look and boost is set to 8PSI (wel that is where the needle stops on the boost gauge) . At what stage is it safe to raise this ? Is 7K enough running in kilos? Please also correct me if i am wrong but standard boost is 10 PSI ? The check engine light is now permanently off as well so all seems good in scoobieville again .

hi .

did a run out to pokeno today adjusted the boost to 10.8 she seems pretty happy with it .

another question ... i have a suspicion she might be running rich as there is a very strong petrol smell even so much that the wife mentioned it . also looks like she might be a bit heavy on fuel usage . Would this be worthwhile to take to a dyno shop to check ? If so can anybody recommend a dyno shop ? I am on the northshore so pretty much anywhere in Auckland would be good .

could be running rich as its running low boost a standard wrx should be running 1bar or 14.7psi i personally run 16psi but i've got a vf22 on my wrx you could also invest in a fuel pressure regulator and adjust it after or during the dyno runs.

also do you still have your charcoal filter hooked up in your bonnet as when i removed that i got the strong smell of gas after my cars been sitting in the sun or garage over night after a long drive the day before.

Yeah i know i need to get the boost up to standard but having a hard time with the gizzmo >:(

i think best will be to get it professionally sorted .

also playerB how much did your dyno run cost ?

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
