id be fitting a standard sti clutch or maybe a 25% upgrade in pressure plate... you wont need much more with 190kw. ive seen 260 kw wrx with standard clutch but it all depends on your wallet....

The first symptom of most japanese cars clutches wearing out is a dragging clutch which causes a graunch into reverse gear. They are designed to do that. It's better than the first sign being that you are stuck on a hill with a slipping clutch.

In the "old days", cars clutches were set up differently with the levers at different effective angles to the force and, complex stuff like that. When they wore out the first sign was slipping, which if continued, because of the heavy trailer on the back at the time, or the steep driveway you were determined to master, caused you to be unable to drive anywhere. Now, if the clutch wears and you heed the first signs you can drive to the repair shop with just a little grinding into reverse.

The fact fifth gear grinds too indicates the synchros are worn... or you need different oil?

to get an uprated pressue plate - do they "retune" a new unit or is it something that has to be ordered separately..

what are the costs involved with uprating the pressure plate?

Hahaha yea but if you add it up its still heaps cheaper than winger's $1200-1400 or whatever they charge all up 8)
