Launching 4k limit

Mine it depends on the turbo. The TD05 I launched at 5k using launch control, in the dry it would wheelspin lightly and take off ok on semis, with road tyres it just smoked up.

VF24 had a restrictor in it so made no power, but as mentioned also running antilag. I would launch that at 5.5-6k and it would bog sometimes due to the restrictor killing power over 5.5k. But sometimes it would get away ok. I am quite keen to try it out now that I have plate diffs all round, as it should accelerate alot better now. However need to build the engine first...

4k sounds a little low to me for launch control, but I would suspect that is probably helped by having a decent spooling modern turbo versus those of us with slow laggy old shitters?

I still recommend the limiter if in doubt about where to launch. As the worst you will do is smoke the tyres or clutch. Better than fucking the box.

this one will be running a twin scroll vf36 id imagine, with an AVCS motor so should have good tow down low. On the -ve side its a GD so akin to a whale and no antilag.

factory in turbo used, AVCS, displacement, dccd or not, gear ratios, weight, surface applied to.

I think its very set up dependant so have a play with it and settle on your preference - by the sounds of the first post its too low.

I remember the one time I was put in charge of disengagement, I didn't have time to look at the rev counter. Our 24s should be relatively good as far as spool goes though. I definitely can't get off the line without at least 5.5k, maybe more. Too much and it'll step sideways without some diff lock.

Im pretty sure in the R i had the launch control set up at like 4.5k max but that was with AVCS and VF37 so had some down low. Was building about 15psi though so sure went crazy when given the chance haha

i can make the rears to shuffle sideways with as little as 5-5.5k, thats with the dccd open though (no launch control though, just stabbing the throttle).

any more and itd leave the road surface. wind the dccd up and it takes a lot more, near the limiter to launch - and it just runs the clutch. This is really really hard on the equipment

Brad - would be interesting to see how much boost we could get on mine at similar rpm and repeat.

One of the first times i launched my old v5 sti, it popped a cv, that sure was a downer haha
