Windshield wiper

Hey all.First true problem with my new car.The driver side wiper slips over the edge when it goes up.This only happens when I driving or if it on high speed.I changed the wiper arm,didnt help.To illistrate what I mean I attached a drawing of what happens.

Now this is getting iritating,it scratches my car and broke the plastic trim above the side window.Does anyone know what the problem might be?

The linkages are shot, either between the wipers of from the wiper motor,

There are ball and socket linkages and the plastic 'socket' slogs out and causes the wipers to over travel.

I got quoted $165 for complete linkage set from subaru, but you may be able to get a decent set from a wrecker

yea this cost me 450 from subaru lol when it happened to my car, not so good lol

Thanks for the quick reply and info.Looks like Im of to Pick-A-part again this week lol.Are they easy to get out and back in?

Pop the 14mm bolts on the wiper arms, wiggle the arms off, take off the black plastic cowl at the bottom of the windscreen (the hard bit is not breaking the clips) Now undo the 12mm bolts on the wiper shaft brackets and on the back of the wiper motor (you'll have to take out the bolts that secure the motor as well) You should now be able to slide the linkages out from the drivers side.

Thanks for that,had a quick look at the vid,should really help.My wiper has the same play issue so it should really fix it.Thanks for the help,this gives me something to do in the week lol

Bay Subaru have them on special, about $160 for the complete wiper rack (Brand new)

Very common problem with the BH / BE model legacy, would not bother with secondhand, could be just as bad.

Thanks for that j4mie.Found the bad link,made a modification and it works for now.So Ill get one of those when I have the money to spare.

Mine is doing the exact same thing, also anything over 80km/h the wipers don't go all the way back down.
