so i got this weird noise tonight...

started car after work.. exit work and apply brakes, theres this squeal noise like a high pitch thing. apply throttle noise disappears, apply brakes again and noise comes back. once car is warm no noise....

first time this has happened..

any ideas? braking seemed fine and nothing unusual apart from the noise..

mind you there are a few strange noises on start up too a slight screech sometimes..

no. there were no lights on my way home, only roundabouts and giveways.

usually two reasons why this would happen. A: wear sensor!! or pin or what ever but your brake pads are F'd and need replacing B: vibrating brake pads. No not for you miss lol. any-who,deep grooves in your disc can produce squealing have them looked at.. any vibration in brake peddle or steering wheel?

wear tabs' can squeal then sometime they snap off, then you dont know TILL your just grinding metal...

oh yes while driving.. slowed down and while turning slightly..

once warmed up its fine...

will see if it does it in the morning..

will look at replacing alternator and go from there perhaps. was just asking incase someone else had this issue.

i KNOW its not the brakes, as i had a look at the pads when i swapped wheels about 4 weeks ago..

and anyway. if it was the brake screamer tab thing it would be doing it all the time but it was only a couple of times and sounded like it was coming from the front.. ( argh i know that is of no help ) but it was a high pitched noise.

I dont know but today I replaced the Engine mount because it made this loud rattling noise kind of like a rotary.

So I reckon you should see if it happens tomorrow and then go from there.

Stone in the brakes? Between the disc and stone guard thingy? Happened to me. couldnt figure out what it was... took it in to get looked at. was a 2min fix

It will be alt belt (just guessing) as mine does the same thing. Next time its cold turn. Your light stereo a/c etc off and see if it does it... my car did the same thing and it was when the alt belt was cold and under load from the alternator

Hey man how about a pic of the engine bay,

check the belts tensions

are you running A/con pump, as they have an idler wheel on the adjuster that may well be dry, maybe even get a new belt or two (alter,P/s & A/C) for piece of mind,

if so maybe even give the p/s - alter - a/c & adjuster pully a quick sqirt of crc while running & squeeling & see if it goes away "That is not going to fix it though" & if not it may well be from under the cam covers??

...I`d change the cd and go from there. lol. Could it be an earthing problem squeel from the stereo?

Check the belts also...... do the fans themselves need abit of crc?
