manual boost control install

I bought a turbosmart 38mm external off lazlo today he said its runing a 14psi spring opened it up and notice they run much smaller spring then the tial shape.cheap gate up for grabs 50$ with 8-7-14 psi springs

I was always meaning to get a tial or turbosmart gate.its a tial copy but does the job well in good condition never ran more then 8psi

yeah, im aiming for around 14... i'll keep it in mind if no one else picks it up in a few months.

dont want to boost 5th if i dont need to ? ? if you cut in 4th gear why boost 5th ever when its obviously faster in lower gears? bet its different with 6 speed ratios

hanging the engine out past the torque peak = slower

Your better off to pluck the next gear and get back on that torque mountain again

5th gear is as actually stronger than 4th ( way better tooth contact area in the gear set )

i never boost 5th ... dont like putting the load on the gearbox...

who said aything about the road - I use 5th on the track Manfield /Pukey/Taupo and I still end up pulling more rpm than I'd like

why would it leak? lol

turbosmart do use different shape spring to a tial spring and theyre not interchangable

Have seen 2 copy ones leak hence asked

Maybe not all do eh but never know

they only leak when you pinch the diaphram due to someone putting the top on wrong....

One of them leaked where the gate shuts the exhaust

Basically always open slightly and so never quite made full boost and lagged a lot

yeah diaphram would have been pinched...in return this slightly pulls gate open... or the valve seat wasnt in there
