Floppy Gear stick becoming anoying

ok guys i have a floppy gear stick very floppy and from what i have read it is the bushes in the gear box but my question is where do i source these bushes as im not sure where to get them from

all help is appreiated as its getting annoying having to press hard on the trim to find 5th and reverse and missing second for fourth haha not helping me learn manual had it for a week haha

yeah ive got the short shifter as someone has cut my factory short as haha but just didnt know where to get the bushes lol

some linkages you have to buy gearshift coupling complete as the bushes arent replacable

other are, see what type you have

woops i never said what type of subaru i had haha

ive got a 1993 Legacy GT twin turbo one

ive had a look under the car today and yes its the linkage it apears that theres no bushes at all its just clanging metal on metal hence the lose ness up top

you can fix both types of linkages, you just have to get creative with the one piece (Pressed?) version

anything is fixable

but cost vs access to machining tools etc for most make replacement the only option for the NON bolt in bush type

Oh and Subaru dont sell those bushes for the NON bolt in - so you have to make them = not cost effective unless you have time to waste

I have the same with my gearstick having too much movement.

Thinking of changing to a GFB short shifter beacuse it's adjustable and getting some TIC or Kartboy shifter bushings ordered from this place: http://www.entra.com.au as they come highly recommended.

I have a genuine V5 STI shifter thats near new (still have the box) which shortens the throw between gears (as it has higher pivot point) $100 And it will bolt strait in and solve your problems. Its far nicer, firmer and direct than even a good factory shifter.

Your 'cut' gear stick is not a short shifter... its broken.

Yep did mine in the BH5 the other day, feels like a new gearbox now! Think the part was like $160 from subaru
