GC8 to V7 6 speed and Brembro Swap

Hey peeps ...

Looking at possibly picking up a wrecked v7 sti ...

Thinking of doing the 6 speed swap and the Brembros too ...

Anyone had any experience doing these conversions? problems etc?

Car is 99 V5 Sti Type R ....

Had a quick search on here couldn't turn up much.

Any Info is mucho appreciated :-)

brakes will bolt straight on. 6 speed will need box, gear selector, and rear diff and clutch with starter if you want 6 speed flywheel and clutch.

I'll buy your old 5spd gearbox and a fair bit of running gear if you wan tto sell it from your V5 type R

ive done it to my V4 type R, you will also need the wheels also, that can clear the brembos... everything bolts up... u will need to take the DCCD fuse off also as it will be annoying flashing all the time

oh yeah you also will need the studs from the GC rear diff that bolts up the subframe as the GD ones are shorter

Is it worth going to the brembos as opposed to a rotor/pad upgrade ?

I have some new wheels being fitted up for it this week which are going to be cutting it pretty close on the gc fitting side of things so that may play havock come conversion time a little bit. hmmm

it looks good and stops better and can handle the heat more, apart from that if you planing to hard out doing tracks i think its not worth it... better to sell it and make some money if you got it..

the only downside on it is finding a nice set of rim without using spacers
