anyone knows how to work these things?

i was looking on trademe at this. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=406827094 it sounds like you can perform reflash on ur car with the right software. has any1 done anything like this before? is it hard to do? would it be a good idea to get it and test it out?

at that price, you are better going for a tactrix cable...

failing that, get hold of a VAG-COM cable and an OLD version of ECU Flash, version 1.38 i believe, or earlier.

you have a rev d i see, it should work. track down a program called ROM RAIDER, its opensource freeware, very easy to use.

be prepared to do a bit of reading...

would this be risky if you have no experiences? i have never done any tuning before. this rom raider software u talking about. i will have to have a read first and see how it works. also would i need a VAG-COM or tactrix cable to run this rom raider software from my laptop to car? where would i find 1 from? sorry for these noob questions but im new to this stuff, i have a friend who has done something like this before but he said hes not 100% sure how it's done.

it clearly states:

Specifically supports 2007+ Mitsubishi Lancer and EvoX.

does that mean no subaru - cos it also mentions the ssmII which is subaru protocol......

anyway, read up on the software first as u may not like it

if u decide u like it then purchase it

also recomend looking on the evoscan site so u know what all that is about

personally not using evoscan as not liking it that much lol

tactrix cable will work, no issues.

vag com cable needs an older version of protocol software, as the newer programs are written by the makers of the tactrix cable, and won't work with any other cable. i know of evoscan cables not working properly too.

i havn't tried using evoscan, but romraider is by far the easiest i've used.

read the user guides!!!!!! i can't stress this enough. you change one cell, you could totally destroy your engine

just make sure its for subbie, the evo one is missing pin 9 which is snapped off
