[Help] Having problem's with the gearbox

Hi there i just started my gearbox conversion on my 1996 subaru legacy i'm having problem's with the gearbox when i put the pressure plate and clutch plate on i can't seem to wiggle the gearbox on it seem's like it's stuck on something i put a 22ml bolt on the front pulley and turned it and it still does not want to slide on any suggestion's and also is there suppose to be a bearing or something on the end of the crank shaft?

Sounds like your friction plate is not lined up properly.

What tool are you using to align it?

You need a spigott bearing (spelling?) in the flywheel too...might be a 6201 i cant remember.

Sound like you didnt align it properly. Some people on here have luck.

When I replaced a clutch in my old BG5 Legacy I had the same problem, sure enough the friction plate was out by only a few millimeters, but was enough to stop the box from sliding home. Good place to start.

i didn't use anything to align it maybe that was my problem.

where can i pick up a cheap clutch?

Thats your problem dude....

Go to a clutch place and buy an alignment tool.. They are a cheap thing and it will save you a world of pain.

Or if you have an old gbox cut off the splined bit you need to align it, worked wonders and saved a trip to the store.

but left me with a boat anchor...

Exedy make them. Ill do some research and list them up for sale if people are keen would be about 15-20ish shipped off the top of my head. I bought one when i did my clutch.

Edit: $15 couriered, suits GC8/GF8 5 speed wrx not sure whether n/a are the same or not.

well i finally got it aligned thank god for that now all i need to do is wait for these part's to arrive can't wait to get her up and running
