V7 STI seats in coupe

KwS

Recommended Posts

Just throwing some ideas around ATM. My V5 Type R coupes got a worn and very average drivers seat, on top of that i'd like something thats a bit "wider" for my fat arse.

I think a V7 STI seat would be good, and ideally to make it better id have to have both front seats the same.

What i want to know, is can i do this in a coupe? I havent had a play with V7 seats and dont know if they have any ability at all to recline? Can rails be swapped over or something to make at least the passengers one recline?

My understanding is that if there is back seats, they must be accessible (ie front seats must recline), but does it have to be from both sides of the car?

I have airbags, didn't even realise they would cause an issue. Damn...

Yeah it's my understanding based on the LVVTA threshold guide that you need to get a cert if you modify seats AND have airbags. No airbags, no problem where factory or reputable aftermarket is concerned otherwise.

Someone else can chime in if I'm mistaken?

i had them in my type r. also had airbags. did not have any problems getting car certed or wof

Is the WOF place aware that they've even been changed though? They do say "STi" on them in big letters lol

According to the VIRM a cert isnt required if,

the seat is either an unmodified OE seat from another vehicle or of a known and

reputable aftermarket brand, and

– the seat is fitted to unmodified OE seat anchorages, and

– the seatbelt anchorage or operation is not affected, and

– the seat components (including brackets, runners and rails) are compatible with

each other, ie they are either OE components from a production vehicle or of a

known and reputable aftermarket brand, and are not fitted together by welding, and

– the relationship between seat, seat occupant, front airbag and location of the

seatbelt anchorages is not affected.

So the V7 Sti seats will bolt straight in, no modification required, and recline happily? Hell, having a quick nosy of the Virm i cant even see any mention at all of a seat having to recline?

Wonder if it is technically correct that a v7sti seat doesn't affect the relationship between the seat/seat occupent and the front airbag. They're taller iirc

guess its a technicality that often gets overlooked (if the seat does indeed change the relationship)? It'd be the same deal in all the other GC/GFs with airbags and V7 seats fitted.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
