92 GT handbrake light on

1992 GT legacy BC5

auto, just had engine changed but now handbrake light stays on even if its disengaged ? wont go into gear at all, the lights change though etc

- i have tried taking the sensor thing on the handbrake base but its all good, i even took it apart to disconnect and connect wires and still no go

just wanna ask here first if there's anything i should be checkin before i go pulling unnecessary things off etc

as for the no go drive - trans fluid correct level? was the torque convertor aligned when eng refitted

guy before me replaced the engine, it does make a sound like rocks in a bowl SOMETIMES other times it runs with no sound

- brake fluid level's good

- trans fluid's good

handbrake light just wont go off and let gearbox engage if im right... ???

Hate to say it dude but i think your gonna have to rip the motor out again and go through it piece by piece...

Yeah thats last resort... would hate too go through that without an engine crane atm

is the ground just below the fusebox important ? a little black wire , its on in my bf but on the bc its been ripped off :-\

I think when you put the torque converter in you haven't aligned it correctly so it's probably not running the oil pump so that would be causing the no drive as for the hand break my car does the same thing if you leave it on for abit don't worry about it the light should go off when driven for abit.

and yeah might have too pull the box off too check

just unsure as i havent done legacy auto boxes before only manual

yeah and the sound your hearing " rocks in a bowl " it could also be the torque converter chewing / rubbing against the oil pump or the torque converter seal could be broken and rubbing against moving parts, from listening to your video the sound is coming from that area any way I think defiantly take the trans out and inspect it.

lol was juts gunna say " Auto RS?" but your working on a GT as stated in 1st post, aint nothing to do with a RS

if convertor not lined up properly and engine installed it will smash the tranny oil pump and put metal thru box

remove cooler lines and run into a bucket - start engine and turn off within 2 sec

No oil = pump fubar or no oil in box

thanks man was def thinking it was auto box and sounds about that way too just was unsure as sound came and went

Keep getting the two mixed up so i just call my wagon the GT and this the RS even though it aint

tried the hoses and they didnt spit any fluid out

thinking if its worth getting a whole other box instead of fixing..

bugger, nope is now junk !

100% sure its full of fluid ? - check dipstick when running

the torque convertor was bolted to the engine drive plate aye?

Yep tc to drive plate allgood, and fluid is full

checked dipstick while running and its full

would it be an alignment issue ? tc to box etc

just lost as its all lined up good...

if the torque converter isn't aligned properly it wont drive the oil pump which of course means you wont go any where and no oil will come out, just because the motor bolts up to the box doesn't mean you don't have any issues
