probably a ROM upgrade type, similar to the "chip" upgrades but probably custom done for your car

I saw this, and decided to email them and see if this was true:

Thanks for your enquiry. The V3-4 WRX ECUs are not flash tunable.

However, like an Nissan SR20, they are tunable via a daughter board

fitted inside the ECU. This is not a piggy back that simply tries to

trick the ECU. It is a full retune of the internal factory ECU

parameters.

Can anyone tune one of these ecus with board fitted? Like a mate needs his V3 sti tuned wonder if you send them the ecu get it fitted then put it in and tune closer to home. Cant see why not...

thats what mines / prova ecu ...etc does, they install a daugther board and do the remap, also piggy back does the job and much more cheap.

In England there is a guy who remap legacy rs-b and gt-b ( 1996 -1999 / 4g ecu ) he gets rip of the lag between the turbos and some cars i heard that is running with 20 psi safe, with original engine. however very expensive to remap, only the daugther board is 395 pounds plus remap. i think is the only place in the world that the remap for those car are available

althought i have the possum link i had my car i had it tuned at NZEFI, very happy with tune so far! even without the power side of things(which im happy with) the smoothness of the tuned on my motor afterwards is awesome!
