Digital Odometer reset itself.... !

This happened to me about a week ago, about the same time I bumped my turbo timer ON/OFF button which killed all electrics while driving. My ODO went to ZERO. How crazy is that??? It was at about 108000 and now is at 210.

Most probably I will have to remove the EEPROM and reprogram it.. fun stuff.

Anyone heard of this happening before? My wagon is a 98 GTB BH5. I had installed a budget car alarm and turbo timer just previously, so this is surely what caused this.

Are you sure that the trip meter is'nt showing ??

Had a couple of customers go balistic thinking that there was a problem, when it was just a matter of pushing the trip/odo button

Yeah I checked that, its definitely the ODO, the trip meter started resetting first which is annoying because I used it to gauge fuel consumption. The actual odometer reset to zero just once, it has not done it again since and is clocking up normally, and the trip meter seems to work normally again. Also the clock always changes to a random time each time I start the car.

I got talked into installing this alarm by my mate who said it would be a breeze, he's 'done heaps of them' but I was not keen due to the complexity of the system on modern cars, I knew it would have troubles due to all the timing circuits that the legacy has i.e automatic relocking if doors not opened within 30 seconds of unlocking.

So now we've confirmed it really is the Odo, have you actually seen this before? I thought it would not be possible but it seems it is.

No, never seen Odo reset itself

Unsure of what you could have done or has happened to reset the Eprom

Sounds more like a "spike" cause could be anything from earthing fault to power surge or backfeed

Power surges + flash are never a good recipe for data retention. I don't like your chances of restoring it though, subaru would be unwise to leave the odo open to reflashing, at least not without some fairly tight security. On the bright side though, what's the resale value these days on a 98 GTB with very low k's?

Itll be a feedback issue with that turbo timer mate. Prolly hooked into your ignition wiring and i would prob say makingthings go funny.

I had a speaker wire that cut the casing on the sill panel and exposed itself to the chassis and made the turbo timer not work and it idled real high all the time like it was on auto choke. Only reason i knew was the headunit bought up failure and a very slight buzz in speakers. Tracked it back to that one wire and shrink wrapped it, then all the probs disappeared instantly.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
