Help putting in new brake pads, Dunedin.

Recommended Posts

Hey guys, the brakes in our '01 Blitzen are on the way out and I need to replace them. How do I know which ones to get and is there anyone in Dunners that might be able to help me out with the fitting adn new brake fluid. Not looking at spending tons of cash on new ones as not sure how long we're gonna be keeping the car for, something decent/factory will do. I only need to do something once to learn how to do it so it'd be appreciated big time.

Thanks.

Bendix heavy duty pads or even GCT pads are pretty good, gct's would do the trick and are good pads but if you are heading down stuart st a lot the heavy duties are probably a better bet. Brake fluid just get some dot 4 fluid, 500ml-1 litre should be heeeeeaps. I don't mind helping you out, can bring some tools down and give you a lesson on how to do it, really easy once you know how. PM me if your keen with your cell number and I'll flick you a text.

Just changed the pads in my gravel express.. I got the wrong pads at first so had to swap them. Pays to go somewhere that has a comprehensive guide for options. If you can, take a brake pad out and take it with you so you can match it with what you need. That's the best thing to do, if you have someone else to drive you down

EDIT: According to Bendix's website, the part number you need are

Legacy 1998 - 2002 Legacy BE5, BE9 DB1342(Front) DB1379(Rear)

Doesn't need to be Bendix, can be any brand, they all use the same reference numbers.

99% sure they will be the 1342's. There is loads of types of pads ... I would never ever ever put silverline front pads in .. may as well just pack mud in your brakes, wait until it dries then hope for the best ..... and still probably better than silverline's

BNT or Ripco are probably best to try for pads, if they give you the wrong ones keep your receipt and they will just swap them until you get the right ones ...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
