Unusual Noise

Hi all,somewhere I read in one of the posts about a power drill type noise coming from the engine of the car, but I have been unable to find that post again.

I have a noise very much like this on my RSK B4 BE5, seems like it is coming from the left hand side of the motor when you sit in the car and listen to it, has allways been there in one way or the other since just after purchasing the car, but not all that long ago it got more noticeable.

Also if I have been for a long trip and get out of the car sometimes it smells hot like radiator hot but have not noticed and seeping of fluid etc onto the ground, the temp guage sits about mid point where it allways has done. Have been checking the fluids about once a week as I allways do and am sure that it is using a little bit of water nothing drastic but enough to notice.

Any suggestions/help with this topic would be great.

If you rev the engine from the throttle body does it get louder as you release the throttle? power drill sound is normally a turbo saying goodbye.

Check timing belt idler bearings...They make odd noises if they are failing.

that post you were talking about was resolved but putting more fluid in the trans as it was the torque converter that was making the power drill sound . . . yours is a manual? if its the turbo it will be metal on metal contact causing the sound, if you change the turbo do the oil at the same time because metal filings can get into the sump and you don't want them!!
