gc8 map sensor and asst crap on the strut tower

its pretty obvious what the map sensor does . but what /y is there the little 3 port solenoid plumbed in with it aswell .

i have had both not plumbed to anything for a while and car is going good .

ive searched the net but there isnt really much info on them . well not the whys and hows

ive seen people put a t and a one way valve in the line as a primitive boost cut defender but allows it to still see vacuum

The factory setup uses the map sensor for boost control. I\'m guessing you\'re using something other than the factory setup to control boost?

The small brown plastic solenoid is the pressure exchange valve our something along those lines. I think it\'s so the ECU can switch over so the MAP can read the atmospheric pressure. Might do that as a reference at startup.

Isnt it when you unplug them you get codes/limp mode. I know if I unplugged my factory boost solenoid it threw code/limp but no problem not being plumbed in.

yeah ive got an avcr

i had them plugged in but not plumbed in .

ive just left the map plugged in but not plumbed . replaced the boost solenoid (20 ohm) and the brown solenoid(42 ohm) with resistors from jay car . no engine light . i took out that whole bracket and bs too

car runs mint . afrs are happy and plenty of injector action

yeah was more wondering what the brown thing actually achieved
