GF8 to GC8 specs??

Hi guys,

I was wondering how hard it would be to bring my 250ps GF8 up to the 280ps of a GC8 wrx.

Im currently running a 2s ECU with grey injectors, Purple AFM, td04 (ie: completely standard)

Could I just put in a 1s ECU (from a GC8 of the same year) and some yellow injectors to bring up to 280ps? or would i run into a multitude of problems there?

Would my little tdo4 handle the hike in boost okay (12psi to 15-16psi)? ???

I suppose the hardest it would be would be a set of yellows, Vf22 and ECU swap maybe orange AFM too?

Just wondering how hard it would really be to bring GF8 up to GC8 stats.

There are sti/non gc8s and sti/non gf8s. You can change injectors/turbo/afm which is common in a few cars but with upgrading those bits your comp ratio will still be out. Just change injectors to yellows, sti turbo and get a possumlink be easiest if you can find one.

This.

However, there was a write up somewhere around here where a member did this upgrade, 6s (STi ECU),yellow injectors, orange AFM, forgot which turbo and a EBC or manual boost controller which made no DET on a dyno check.

People dont seem to get det just its not going to be the maximising its potential. You might get 200kw as a peak figure but delivery might not be to grand.

Not a comparison but my libero was tuned with stock 380cc injectors/afm/ecu then went to evo 3 510cc injectors/afm/ecu same boost. Ran pig rich and slower but everyone still does that upgrade. Tuning makes the difference.

Thanks for the info guys.

Im talking standard JDM WRX here (no sti stuff),

The JDM 97 WRX GF8 puts out 250ps from and EJ20G

Standard 97 WRX GC8 puts out 280ps from EJ20K

Even the earlier 95 GC8 STI put out 275ps on an EJ20G with Greys and a TD05 so the engine itself can handle it (not going into the forged / non-forged debate)

How much boost can a TD04 FE handle realistically without s#$ting itself?

12psi should be fine for the td04.

I\'ve spent a lot of time googling and on a few other Subaru forums and the ej20g in the wagon looks to have a compression ratio of 9:0:1 so just be careful. However that could be completely wrong.

My V5 had a td04 I ran at 14.5psi just off boost cut for maybe 6 months. Tbh Idk if it was any faster than 12psi stock... Defo had a lot more top end and felt like it came on boost faster with vf23 untuned but started using gas on boost.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
