GC8 Photo Requests

Recommended Posts

Can I please have some pics of a GC8/GF8 running 215 45 R17\'s? Please list guard to wheel centre heights or how it is lowered.

Im thinking I might swap my 215 40 R17\'s to the higher profile and raise the car a little to make the ride a bit smoother and get my speedo reading closer to what it should be.

My old man is setting in and I\'ve even got a stock rear swaybar to put on for daily driving haha

My trusty calculator says that combo (215/45x17) will ride 14mm higher than std (205/50x16).

So... if you\'ve lowered it in any way, you\'re losing heaps of suspension travel, and then losing 14mm more.

If I was an old man, which I am, I may find that too harsh and bumpy :)

The same trusty (but could be wrong) calculator says that the car will be going 2.6% faster than the speedo says :(

will measure it in a minute . its on tein ha . i like it . handles like it son rails but still has suspension travel that actually soakes up bumps . gets minor guard rub with people in the back if thrashing around the hills

Mines at 330 all round and have 215x45 x 17, I think the guards at the back have been rolled slightly. I dont get any rubbing, but have not done a trip with any weight in the car just a sunday drive with the kids etc. 45s run much better than the 35s that the old 18s were. Im not sure on the km per hour accuracy, seems ok to me. Reads the same on the Apexi RSM as the speedo if that makes a difference.

Its on cusco zero 2 coil overs as well. my assometer also says the the 45s run better than the 40s my old cars had on them, less road noise and hard jolting on the bumps. When you buy the tyres, just ask about road noise as thats the biggest factor with performance tyres. Sometimes a cheaper quality tyre gives a better overall result imo ;)

If your car originally came on 205/50-16, then a 215/40-17 is closer in rolling diameter than a 215/45-17.

205/50-16 = 611.4mm 0% error

215/40-17 = 603.8mm 1.24% error

215/45-17 = 625.3mm 2.27% error

who suggested 0 castor ?

car would be undrivable !

castor keeps the car tracking straight and adds stability.

too much though and the car becomes unresponsive to directional changes.

perhaps the poster meant 0 toe ?

That\'s surprising as it should have been more accurate with the 40-series.

Fair trade re: comfort.

I found that 40\'s improved the steering to the point where combined with an H- front brace, my standard STI steering rack felt almost as sharp as a quick ratio rack.

But yes, more Noise, Vibration, Harshness.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
