Rear Differential Bushes

Recommended Posts

I think the rear differential bushes on my '92 Legacy GT (manual) are stuffed, getting lots of drive train slack and it's quite horrible to drive.

Can anyone recommend a place to buy new bushes? Preferably slightly harder than stock. I don't want to go too hard or racing bushes because of the extra strain on the chasis, but the less movement the better.

well you could do a visual check like I did. Its easy and quick. Did that and saw that the rubber had fallen out :o

LOL! Well that's what it feels like has happened to mine, lots of lurching when going quickly on and off the accelerator and the "clunk" when shifting quickly.

Same here. I remember the drivetrain on all the leggy's I test drove being a bit jerky when coming off the throttle. I just figured it was a feature of the awd platform (and maybe the viscous coupling in the middle of it all).

Mine is a lot better now that I've taken the slack out of the throttle cable though :) It is much more controllable.

hmm mine gets it coming on throttle really badly... jumps and starts really badly.

Can some one put up some pictures of where we're looking please.

I had always just thought it was my gearbox getting tired and worn

From what I've read and the pics I've seen, the rear differential bolts to the sub-frame at 2 points. You just need to support the diff while you pull the bolts out and replace the rubber mounts....sounds easy....in theory.

The below pics are from a 2000 Impreza WRX but you can see the 2 mounting points in the sub-frame located above the diff, behind the sway bar.

Andrew, yours look nothing like that pic. Its a different setup. Thats what Keltic has, and yes, BE/BH are common as for breaking diff bushes. Diff out to replace them.

Well that's a scary thought!

this shows my SVXs one

guessing it be similar to replace?

you have to get the outter part of the bush out. been told to cut it carefully trying not to cut in to the rear sub frame.

Then use a screw driver to pry it out

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
