not starting when cold.

H i there im having trouble with a 94 wrx being very hard to start when the engine is cold only, when the engine is warm it starts fine .

Any help would be awesome

Throwing any fault codes?

By hard starting do you mean slow cranking or turns over lots before starting?

As above, does it turn over slow or just crank for ages?

if it\'s cranking slow test the battery

if it\'s cranking for ages check spark plugs, if it\'s anything like my car it\'s likely they\'ll be completely sooted.

I should have put this at the start of the last post.

done some looking um were do i start.

Pluged scanner into it and come up with injector #1 fault.

The passangers side spark plugs are white and drivers side black. These are new plugs.

When you do finally get it to start it does not run on hi idle .

The radiator fans both go full noise all the time.

Has had new walbro fitted in the last couple of months, heaps of sets of plugs, new fuel filter .

had second hand AFM fitted a few months ago.

Cambelt is in time and not very old

A few months ago i had a look at it and just checked the same things as i have this time, apart from checking the colour on the spark plugs .

I went back to it after a few days and it started fine ran on hi idle fans were off it ran MINT.

Two weeks later and it started running like shit again.

Im not to sure how to go about this now any ideas would be awsome.

Check your engine earths.

+1 earth straps to engine and chassis.

Check Coolant temp sensor... maybe over enriching/ not enriching.

Was the injector tested or replaced?

Only other thing i can think of is a leaky head-gasket...

are the cooling fans ruuning continuously? even when eng temp is cold

Sounds like the coolant temp sensor thinks that your car is always hot. Hence the fans always on, hard to start when cold and no higher idle when cold.

Is there a thermo fan switch on these or just cts?

all fuel injected Subaru from 89 use ECU to run cooling fan relay based on coolant temp

There is NO thermo switch
