ej22 build for bc5

ej22 what oil pump ej20 turbo or ej22 one and heads will any of them fit ie whats not gunna bolt on

what the better rods pistons to use are worth going forged or does normal semi forger (semi lol) will do anything you would do differently,ive built a few engine through the years and no the differance between a seated valve and not just wanting to really no what combo of lego parts i need to do the job

SO:

heads - you can just bolt on ej20 heads, DOHC are the go obviously if you want best results, and lets assume you are going to use sti ones, wrx fitment however is just the same. dont put on ej257 heads - it wont seal. You dont have to deshroud ej20 heads - only an extra 2mm or so either side.

headgaskets - you want MLS minimum, research tells me the 22b ones are EPIC $$, so cometic are the next best thing off ebay, reasonably priced.

shortblock bolt ons - water pump / oil pump / idlers / cambelt etc etc etc, just order what you would normally for an ej20T - its all same same. also the crank is identical to ej20, so bearing are the same.

rods - again the same (IDENTICAL) as ej20t, so pick a brand and price point your happy with. I would put forged rods in it if you have the coin to build it properly. I personally run Argo\'s. id put in carillos if i was super rich.

case bolts and head studs - either factory or ARP etc, they are the same between ej20 and ej22. so pick what you would for an ej20.

pistons - not a huge amount of choice for ej22 but Wiseco do a good forged drop in, 97.5mm. lots of these on ebay.

shortblock - the only thing you might want to consider is the ej22 is all open deck (bar a rare few shortblocks which most people dont have) so you should consider pinning it or getting it closed in.

nothing else needs worrying about really - right size the turbo given a slight increase in cc, pick a suitable set of heads for output. personally i run v3 sti heads totally unmodified and makes about 320wkw. people do put cams and valves in heads all the time for difference types of power and placement on the power curve - YMMV and you should talk to you engine builder about those specifics.

custom piston - use this p/n: K602M975

remember you need the right HG too :P - cometics only do a 98mm gasket btw. but its fine on a 97.5mm bore.

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
