Tranny fluid

Hey there,

Would anyone know where to get genuine subaru atf and tranny filter for cheap?

For a 4eat bp5? Preferrably in auckland. Called up sublab and they\'re charging me $24 a liter.

yeah its like that, i got 10L last time and i had to bring my own containers. filter was cheap tho

Thats about right.. FYI i needed 13L to complete my flush and fill. 4eat BL5

Would you guys suggest castrol transmax e?? Or stick to oem?

i just oem then you know its good for it, and i did mine on the 5eat? is it still called that? the 5 speed tiptronic box

How manu flush and fill cycles did you do for a complete flush?

Transmax e is what genuine fluid is. Draining and refilling will not flush it

The auto boxes on these require \'pressure\' flushes. Pay someone to do it properly

Sublab says they dont do machine flush with bp/bl\'s... Only drain and fill... Bit confused now

Isnt that what we did tho

Nope we flushed through torque converter etc via radiator lines

intersting. Mine was done by Alex at highbrook automotive. Definetly plugged into a machine

Any thoughts on the castrol transmax multivehicle? Full synthetic?

If you buy oil from an oil shop they *should* have public liability so if they give you the wrong fluid and it fucks your trans youre covered. Most genuine people use castrol which pull their listings from the same datateck mothership as agip/gulf western/etc anyway.

Its not standard dexron 3 its transmulti iirc.

Just been to sublab... And they charged me $80 bucks for the at filter. That is not cheap at all....

I also asked what atf they use for 4eat... The guy at reception said they use castrol tq95 for 4eat... Any thoughts?

We (boss and I) did a trans flush, (plugged into a Wynn\'s trans flush machine using about 12L of Elf G3 with an additive) on our 2001 Lancaster 6 w/ 4eat.

Reading this thread has me slightly concerned, as it would seem G3 is just the standard Dexron 3 fluid. Should I be worried, and is this the wrong fluid? We did use a genuine Subaru filter.

I wanted to flush it as dad had just driven from Gore to Wanaka towing a chiller room in 3rd @ 80kmh the whole way haha. Also, prior to this, there is a distinct "thunk" (specific I know...) coming from the trans area as you come to a stop at intersections, this hasn\'t gone away with a flush, so any ideas what\'s happening?

4 speed auto\'s just use Dex 3 and can be \'power flushed\'.

5 speed auto\'s use Tansmax J and I would not \'power flush\' it. Just disconnect the return oil cooler line (rear most on the LH chassis rail) and flush - use something to measure how much has come out so you know how much to put back in.
