retrofit trailer brakes

Am looking for info on how to convert my nkn braked trailer into a braked trailer.

i know I need new hubs, hitch etc, but looking for a cheap way of doing it.

no real cheap way of doing it unless you can source the parts cheap,

I am guessing override brakes ? So you will need new coupling,new axle unless the old one has the clearance to fit the disk caliper bracket and the stub axles fit the the new hub, new hub/disk,calipers,brake lines, maybe larger rims if yours dont clear.

I have built about 8 trailers in the last few years, and converted 3 from non braked to braked

sweet, have checked there is plenty of clearance, the trailer was originally built with the option for disk brakes designed in so I need coupler, hubs, brakes, disks...

I have used both Trojan and CM both are well made and work well

Trailequip could be worth a shot or ASL have a new range in as of a year or so ago. No judgement on how good it is tho.

iirc cost me $2500 for a complete brake setup

inc. hitch, hubs wheels and tires (was kinda setup for holden discs but were rusted beyond use)

It is waaayyyyy betterer to use proper trailer gear, the "good" calipers use Phenoilic pistons and either galvanised or stainless housings, All of the stuff i use has brass/stainless fittings means way less headaches later on.( the trailers I build for my company do HUGE milages and are pretty reliable, but then I am cronic for overbuilding)

Yes, they are CM spec I believe.

New is a bit dear for us, may have to get preloved (but then need $$$ so we can budget for it)

I bought all trojan gear for my trailer when i converted it, cost about $1k for hubs, calipers, coupling, lines and wheels, the trailer already had the axles for calipers.
