Re-Registering a Deregistered Car

GC82GO

Recommended Posts

Hi all, Im hoping someone can shed a bit a light on this situation im about to get myself into. I have Deregistered Ver3 WRX that I was gonna build a track car out of but have now decided I want to daily it.. Its been registered here before, Its a Tidy example with about 90,000kms on it, and a freshly rebuilt forged engine. My concerns are the mods it has.. main one being RWD.

Concerning Mods:

Brembo Brake Upgrade

RWD Conversion (Still retaining Front Axels, so it looks as if it is still 4WD)

Adjustable Rear Arms.

Anyway if anyone has done this, please guide me~! :P

id just put standard brakes on it for compliance and check it for rust. then you will need to take out interior trim for them to look at seatbelt anchors and other things. I just had a car go through compliance and i made sure that it was as original as possible. but in saying that since the brakes use all the factory holes and things front and rear you mite get away with it but so not sure on the rwd factor. Maybe put it back to 4wd and live well

Yes I was thinking this (making it standard), But I want it to be Certified etc so I don\'t have to worry about Police.

Where abouts are you. At work we re register cars. Dave is on the money with what he said. Don\'t worry about pulling interior apart. That was special for him to get cheaper rate.

Im in Tauranga, But if I can get it done by in house club sub members that would help yes??

get it road legal while its standard then cert, thats what im doing, seems to be easier

Yes I was initially thinking this, But I read this on nzta.govt.nz about "Re registering your Vehicle"

"What if I\'ve modified or rebuilt my vehicle?

Modifications to a vehicle may affect its safety performance to the extent that it needs to be certified by a specialist low volume vehicle certifier. The TSD agent will assess whether this is necessary or not.

When the LVV certifier is satisfied with the safety performance of the vehicle, the vehicle returns to the TSD agent. There will be a charge for LVV certification, in addition to the TSD agent\'s certification costs."

why not do it around the other way. least that way you\'ll have a piece of mind knowing your car is legit as. cause now days cops are pinging modified cars for anything now such as rims and minor things, all they do is give you a ticket and say get a lvv cert and walk away

If your a BR then you\'ll get a greeny or a pinky with or without a cert, then its off to vtnz handing over $100plus for a recheck anyway.. I think one would have more piece of mind knowing that they dont need to pay another $400 to get each mod added to the cert plate, which is why its more applicable to do all the mods first then go for a cert.

Your best bet re \'\'Re Registering\'\' Is to do the stripping yourself.. if you can\'t then find a mate that has some mechanical ability to tag along.. the process can take up to 4hours but this is where you\'ll save coin!

Basically you will be asked to remove the interior panels and trims seats etc,(they look for damage and rust mainly) after that each panel will get signed off..

You will use there hoist remove all wheels and brake pads.. the inspector will generally over look as he or she signs off underneath car.. Then you well assemble the car and it will go for a wof check..

After that you will get your new plates made up if everything is ok

Your best bet is to try to set your car back to standard before you take it in and keep it all nice and clean..

You will need a cert for rear adjustable trailing arms so find so factory ones first.

Cost wise your looking at around $650ish all up if you do the stripping yourself.. this includes new plates and 1 year rego and new wof of course.

If you dont strip it then you have to pay them to do it so your cost will come in at around $1000 for everything.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
