Timing Question

What happens if your timing belt is a tooth out? does it make a diffrence?

I know when i did mine it was half a tooth out and couldnt get it to be perfect is this an issue?

Cam/valve timing goes out, so it\'ll lack power and not rev well. The more teeth it\'s out the worse it gets.

For your new belt to not line up right, you must of had slight slack in the belt on the opposing side of the tensioner. When you let the tensioner go and the belt tightens one or two gears are moving as the slack comes out. Get it all lined up with no slack then let the tensioner go.

well its not quite a tooth out mayb half a tooth its not perfectly lined up i havent noticed any lack in power though

Half a tooth\'s not to bad. 3-4 teeth out it wont rev over 2000

all the lines on the camshafts lined up rightand when i realeased the tensioner and cranked it around a few times i noticed it was about half tooth out as oposed to a full tooth before i replaced the belt. Also the double lines on the camshafts on the right hand passanger side didnt line up and thats how i noticed it was half a tooth out

there commonly half a tooth out on the top left gear (i think) haven\'t done one in a while .

if its more then half out its incorrect . but once installed , pin pulled and engine rotated a few times they tend to come closer.

even more common when putting v7 heads onto closed deck blocks and shiizz like that because of deck , head specs and gasket used

relief haha i just didnt wanna damage anything haha lol seems like its driving really nicely now anyways mayb a little bit faster since changing the old TT heads off for some v4 sti ones and new cambelt kit installed
