confused about gearbox problem

Hi

on the old forum I said about the grearbox starting to crunch when I change up from 3rd into forth or back down again especially when around the 90-100 km mark. However, for some unknown reason it has completly stopped doing this , there is no crunching sound anymore and it shifts into 3rd and 4th up or down at any speed perfectly.

Anybody have any ideas why this would be?

Nope nothing has changed on the car, I have been very gentle when chaniging gears for the last two months just to avoid the noise. ???

i have this issue as well... only 3-4 and 4-3 ... so frustrating cos mines still doing it!!!

yep i got a ticket and a telling off. He wasn't too bad about it though, the fine was a hundred od dollars. Wouldnt believe the car was mine though. :-\

if it makes u feel any better mine crunches 1-2, 2-1 and 2-3

you should try shifting smoothly and not so harshly.

No my username reflects the state of my car, hence the sig.

If drive it as much as i do ud know it does depending on the speed before and during the gear change... i can make it NOT crunch, but then i cant boost it.. if i boost (and yes with SMOOTH changing) it will crunch

Oh and yes the clutch is all the way in cap'n, its apparently sumthing to do with my syncros?? ???

Yep, there is a method to deglaze which would decrease the crunching you find with worn synchros

Deffinitly sounds like glazed syncros, very easy to fix

I posted about this on the old forums,

However I will not type up how to do as the proceedure done incorrectly can do damage and i aint taking that resonsibility

must be time i get mine sorted then eh, over the crunches lol (despite what sleeperfoz recons about it beeing the driver) i've been told by a few ppl its my "syncros"

Well i'd be estimating... I'd say 140-160kw @wheels.
