How to replace a clutch EJ20T GC8

Hi clubsub members,

I have a V2 WRX EJ20T Manual that is due for a clutch and flywheel change. I\'m planning on doing a D.I.Y and I\'ve tried searching for a step by step guide (with pictures and tools needed) on club sub and the net but I\'m not coming across the right information. My V2 is completely standard. So if some one can please shine some knowledge or a step by step guide on how to do this. It would be much appreciated!

Thanks!

Pull engine out first is the easyist way I found, theres vids on youtube that I watched and gave me enough information to do this, will need 10,12,14,17mm hex sockets and spanners, 10mm allen key to get plug out to remove clutch fork, hoist, flathead and Phillips screwdrivers and maybe a few other tools will possibly be needed that I cant really think of atm

1/ Follow your nose

2/ Do the reverse procedure of what you did taking it out.

But really pretty self explanatory I would pull the box personally. Couple of things there is a hex key bung on the side of the bellhousing you need to remove, then thread a M6 iirc bolt into the clutch fork pin and draw it out. Put a piece of 2x3 or similar between the rad and the engine/alt whatever to stop the engine dropping forward when you slip the gearbox out. Get the flywheel machined and thats all the important bits.

have seen a guy do it by undoing Engine mounts moving motor forward, then similar with box , moving it back enought to get a socket in (not complete removal of box nor donk)

not recommended I guess : but worked, was also a N/A (push type clutch iirc)

There is some good info out there... even on here... (but I can\'t find any on here right now).

It\'s one of those jobs that is fairly straight forward, but there are some important things to know.

You could probably wing it as suggested... but I don\'t recommend it.

Thanks for your help guys! The information provided will defiantly come to good use. I just have a few more questions. Is it essential to change the clutch fluid? If so how is this done? and whist changing the fly wheel must I secure the crank?

cluch fluid, no, but I would/did

flywheel, yes, I did this by piacing a 12mm ring spanner with a bolt threw each end 1 from the pressure plate (placed back in the flywheel) and the gearbox bolt from the starter (placed back in the block) thus holding it still

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
