Components install on a bp5

So basically while tidying up the cupboard this morning i found a pair of brand spanking new speakers 6500cx infinity. Been there sitting for ages.

The question is, i wanna install this in my bp5, do i need to use the cross over that came with the kit? Or is there some crossover happening thru the wires or my head unit? I know it already has a tweeter and a mid that functions ok. So do i just swap out the old one to the new without using the crossover that came with the kit?

Any help would be appreciated.

Current setup is

Head unit: JVC r500 wired using aftermarket wiring looms so no tapping occurred with the oem loom.

Also looking at a second hand underseat sub. Any ideas how can i wire it to the headunit? Or do i need it to run through an amp?

Thanks!

Surely you would want to amp the infinity's, not much point javing a nice set of speakers if they're going to be under powered, will sound way better with a stand alone amp..

Most of those underseat subs have amps built in so would just need rca's run from the sub out on the headunit

Factory speakers use a cheap in-line capacitor to high-pass the tweeters (which are wired parallel to the woofers). Aftermarket components definitely demand more than the 16-20W (RMS) that headunit internal amplifiers put out.

The Jaycar (Response) 50Wx4 were ideal for speakers , and fit under the seat too. They do a 100Wx4 if you're after a more powerful clean sound, good value at under $300.

Also the 6.5" speaker spacers (Ed's Auto) won't work, as the fitting screws differ between older GC8/BF5, etc.. you have to make custom spacers from 18mm MDF.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
